One line goes directly to one caliper so 2 calipers=2 lines
I think front and rear calipers are identical but you can check part numbers.

    For the front brakes:

1 Line goes from the Brake Master to the splitter down near the tree.....then it splits into 2 lines that go to each Caliper.

    So 3 lines.

Originally yes BUT the new arrangement is as I described above... just read the auction:

    "FEATURES

    * Galfer braided stainless steel front brake lines
    * Includes two brake lines, banjo bolts and washers
    * Two lines run directly from master cylinder to each caliper..."

I have seen this arrangement in a friends bike. I did not liked it though.

So the Galfer kit has some kind of splitter at the master?

It uses a longer banjo bolt with two holes...one for each line.

    Ah.....I see.

Sounds like it'd be better to get a 3 line kit.

Dont know why...it's the same thing really except the longer bolt is down at the "splitter" and by going two line there are less pieces to fail.

It depends a bit on the look you are going for.

2-line kits have less connections - always a good thing - but aesthetically I think the 3-line set-up is a cleaner look. It is personal preference really.

Either way braided stainless steel brake lines are a great upgrade.

I have the 2 line set-up and it works much better to me. It's has very smooth pressure all the way to lock.

I have no doubt that steel braided lines are a superb upgrade.

I agree that the 3-line setup is e cleaner setup and is what I would go for.

3 line set-up may look a tad cleaner but eliminating that junction is what gave the smooth fluid flow. The 3 line system is inefficient IMOP.

The 2 line set up allows you to push twice the fluid with the same force, much more efficient. And as for the rotors and calipers sucking, yeah they aren't new 4-piston like on a 600RR, but I can do a stoppie on my 86 VF500F..... maybe you should replace your pads.

I would go for the 3 lines. Certainly aesthetically better.
2 lines are just cheaper due to less components. Fluid flow is very small if system has no problem like warped rotors and pressure builds up at once.
I agree though that stock brakes of the VF500 are very capable as long as they are maintained well.

I perfer the two line set up, I have Galfer two lines on four of my bikes and see the three line as inferior. JIM

I imagine the length would be off.

A friend of mine once had a VF750 and we couldn't find anything similar between his bike and mine.
