ok...so the stock tire size on the rear is 170/60/17

I tried to put a 180/55/17 and I think I broke the wire bead on the tire making it useless...

now before I break my own back trying to get the tire off...can someone tell me how to do it quickly and safely.

Also if you could tell me why the 180/55/17 didnt fit that would be great also.

The rim isn't wide enough for a 180 to fit properly and if you do get it on the profile will be messed up because the rim is too narrow. Thankfully they still make a 170 width tire eh!

If I recall you remove and install the tire from the front side of the rim because the shape of the rim will allow one side to be pushed down while the other is levered over the lip of the rim.

Have a look at this YouTube - SCUDMAN How to remove a motorcycle tire

Not a bad video for the DIY guy or gal but it doesn't help when you need to balance the assembly afterwards. The whole tire thing is a real scam if you ask me, Just try to get a dealer to install a tire you picked up somewhere else,,,,,I used to pick up sets of Dunlops from a dealer in Chicago for just over $200 a set but nobody will install them unless they sold them as well. Thus I got good at installing them myself.

    Have a great night dude!

    Thanks Man!!

YEAH..I wanted to be self sufficient so I will try to do all myself.. I dont care if I screw up as long as its not too bad..id rather learn to do it myself than bring it to the dealer. Parker bros in toronto will install BYO tires for $50.00 each.. They are really a good store but to far away for my taste so I like to do stuff myself. The guy around the corner from me wants $88.00 to install a tire on a vfr? I almost told him to FO!! Godd thing I didnt as I may need him to order me some parts in the future...lol

    Best regards
