I just bought a 800FI and am having problems getting it started. It cranks and the engine spudders like it is going to start but never does. I see the FI light flash 7 times and found a little info on this about a possible loose connection. Also when I tried it again the FI light stayed lit with the same no start result. Another try yielded the 7 light flash once again. Also my neutral light does not come on and I am forced to put the side stand up and hold the clutch in to even try to start it. Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks
This is from page 5-10 of the shop manual......7 blinks = 1. Loose or poor contact on ECT sensor 2. Open or short circuit in ECT sensor wire 3. Faulty ECT sensor
Perhaps yours looks like this? Mine was obviously bad due to a small rodent setting up house in here! Cleaned her up, fixed the wires which included the neutral safety switch wires and voila, vroom vroom.
