Anyone know how to remove the back nut that keeps the axel in place . I've removed the rear wheel and calliper the abs sensor . The rear nut just doesnt want to move . Its a 45 mm socket which appears tobe stuck solid with no movment and its recking my head so any help would be greatly appreciated .

that nut is staked on, llok for a groove in the axle and you will see how they punch the axle nut so it doesn't come off.
you have to unstake it to get it off.

    Thanks kid
I found the punch position and she still wont budge . Do you know if the tread is of the reverse type or a standard? I think just brute force might be the answer but Im afraid of breaking something !!!!!!!!

no reverse thread. that nut is torqued to 150+ lb/ft.....long extension with a little steam will bust it loose.

Electric or air impact will be your friend here if you have one. If not, NCB's recommendation of the cheater bar will work as well.

Glad you found the punch mark. Make sure to lift the punch mark so it clears the groove. Put the wheel back on and the caliper and have someone sit on the bike and apply the rear brake while using a cheater bar to loosen it.

I put a fresh nut on and staked it. However, you can reuse the nut if you release the stake carefully. I did not and felt better using a fresh one.

The few I have removed came off easily with a 3/4 impact. I know it is not an everyday item for most but thought I would throw it in .

Man, that's crazy! I can tell you I had a dude sitting on it and applying the brakes.

I have a breaker bar that is about 18" long and I weigh 190 lbs and put all my weight on it. It didn't break loose. I used a pipe that was probably 6 feet long and used that it came loose. The poor socket I was using has some twist in it near the drive engagement point!

So, it's not easy. Good luck!

Well holy S**T I GOT IT
In the end I had to use a half inch air chisel with a 200lb pressure tank and I nearly emptied it trying to open it.. When I eventually got the whole thing dismantled sure wasnt the axel bone dry no grease of any kind and the teeth were also bone dry no sort of lube on them what so ever . The treads were the said seized nut was were soaked from all the wd 40 on not that it done any good. But hey feck it its all fixed now and all is good :cool: so I just had to take my baby off for a spin . Happy Days , cheers for all the help guys greatly appreciated :heh:
