I believe this is nothing more than a magnet so you should be able to make your own but I'm not sure how effective these are. I've also heard that you can turn off your bike and then press the starter button since the starter is powered by an electromagnetic motor. In theory this should also allow the buried traffic sensor to detect your bike more easily.

Some of these magnetic switches are now being replaced by motion sensors mounted high on the light pole, which also are poor at identifying bikes. I can't see how this device will make your bike more visible to a motion detector. But at this point, these motion detectors are not really that common, I believe.

The motion detectors are all over the place here in Austin, TX. I know they must be adjustable because one particular one (East entrance to Galleria for locals) didn't used to see me and I had to wait for a car to pull up behind me, now it triggers quickly. (There are no burried lines BTW)
