F2 Rear shock won't fit VF500?

I can't seem to fit my 600F2 shock on my 500. The Preload hose coming from the top of the shock occupies the same space as either the pulse generator mount on the frame or the battery box. Has anyone else had this problem and found a solution? I emailed JD but haven't gotten a response yet.

Not sure the CBR600F2 shock is a bolt and go. I did run into a similar issue with an F4i shock conversion for my '84 - the reservoir hose needed to be tilted up to clear the coolant overflow bottle.

Invisible Cities: You shock has a 90* fitting on the shock- mine is sticking straight out. Did you have Jamie add that?

 

Yes, as part of the F4i conversion Jamie added this fitting along with a longer reservoir hose. This gives a few more options for the placement of the reservoir.

I think you'll be very happy with Jamie's work, he did a top-notch job on the shock I have.

 

Yeah I had it modified by Jamie and it looks great, I just can't us it because the hose is in the way.

 

Any chance for a photo or two?

Not only that, but with the shock mounted either way the bottom doesn't line up with the Pro-Link- It needs to be rotated a few degrees.
I e-mailed Jamie Monday night and still haven't gotten a response.

Originally the F4i shock conversion that I installed had a similar set-up - with the reservoir hose coming straight out from the shock's body. I switched to the 90-degree fitting after a test fit (I returned to shock to DMr to have this fitting installed along with the longer hose) as I had similar concerns on how to go about routing the reservoir hose. There is not a lot of room in there as you have found out.

The trick to the 90-degree mount is to angle it up so the hose clears the coolant overflow bottle.

Is that hose under pressure? I'd rather just do it myself and have a hydrolic shop make me a new hose.

 

Yes, it is pressurized - I was hesitant to try adjusting the hose myself after learning from Jamie that if the fluid leaks out and any air finds its way into the shock then the shock will need to be completely disassembled again in order to bleed it.

With this in mind I boxed it up and returned to DMr - Jamie stands by his work and made the adjustment free of charge and offered to pay for the shipping both ways. Can't get a better deal than this.
