What's the recommendation on carrying a laptop on my new-to-me 01? I've used Givi in the past, E36 I think. Anyone have any other options? ALso, would love to see any pictures of your topcase setup. Thanks :thumb:

I took advantage of the grab rails , drilled 8 holes in my e46 topbox which allowed for 4 mounting points and used 8 cable ties to hold her on! Have racked up alot of miles and only 1 of the 8 cable ties ever snapped!

Your work looks great. Me like. I just have a concern about the strength of the connection since you mentioned you have just two pins connecting it. I know I have not seen it, but just by the sound of it, it makes me think this will be insufficient strength, especially if a passenger were to rest their back on it. I am sure it is plenty strong enough to haul stuff in, but over the long term those two connections seem like they may get fatigued (and possibly crack) without additional support locations. I guess I just prefer to overdo it, and know it would be sturdy.

I am thinking about mounting Pelicans to mine. I bought a custom rack from Kanadian Ken over at VFRD, but I gotta figure out side racks first.

Has anyone tried fabbing up some kind of bracket/luggage rack and then bolting on one of those cheap eBay motorcycle trunk backrests? I'd been looking at those trunks for my cruiser for a while, and they get some pretty decent reviews. They say they are comfortable for passengers, too. Just need some kind of flat 8"x8" surface to mount it on.
