Wow! Are you lucky! Nice road but no shoulders. I don't know if I would have done any different in the same situation!

I've ridden that road several times. On many sections, there's nowhere to go if someone is in your lane. Glad you had enough room to squeeze by safely. The driver was probably on the phone or texting.

took watching 3 time but it seems the car gave the guy on the bicycle way too much room and you less.
good heads up on your part.

Glad you weren't hurt, and I'm glad you were on the right half of the lane before you saw them seeing as how you were switching back and forth throughout the vid. Bicycles on roads like this are a hazard at all times if you ask me, should be outlawed. Person in the car was probly worried about killing that sap before they even saw you. We have that problem where I live (out in the country) Biciclists think that because they aren't in town that cars don't come around much.

Always makes me laugh when folks on here say things like "damn cagers" like we don't all have and drive them.:car:

Close for sure. And as a side bar, some still say daytime driving lights serve no purpose. I don't know how much better you saw in real life than what we could see in the video, but had there been lights illuminated on that Audi, we certainly could have seen it much earlier and had the opportunity to take more evasive action. As it was here, the car blended in really well with it's surroundings.

Always scary! Nice move, and glad you avoided the hit. That's the very reason that I tend to favor the outside of the lane.

A heated debate every time I see it crop up, but I disagree about bicycles being outlawed. Drivers need to learn a little patience - pay more respect and attention. Bicyclists only become dangerous when they do stupid things (which they do, but so do drivers of all kinds) or when drivers are too preoccupied to properly handle the situation.

That's why the Yellow double line is a "dead man zone", I don't even ride near the yellow on most turns , specially blind's.

I found in so California were I grew up riding was big trucks, fast sports cars and other sport bike riders drift into or over the Yellow coming the other way, so I just cut my single lane into half and give them the half nearest the Yellow center, unless its mild sweepers on a flat I can see 2o ro 3 turns ahead into then I will cross over and back over , otherwise I avoid the Yellow all together . Nice to see Your alive & well

Thanks everyone. Definitely a close call. The Audi came up QUICK. I saw the other 2 cars passing when I noticed the biker, but they didn't really come much into my lane. The Audi on the other hand scared the piss out of me and was within inches of hitting me. I was too busy swerving or I would've kicked his side view mirror off. My low beams were on. I usually don't ride with high beams on during the day, but maybe I should? I just try to piss off the least amount of people that I can while on the bike.

BTW: My bike is bright red, my helmet is BRIGHT obnoxious orange, yellow, and reflective white. There's no way he didn't see me.

I do love it, but you know how bad that road can be at times for bicycle traffic, vehicular traffic, and how a lot of the road is slowly subsiding, mainly on the right 1/3 of the lane.

Ive thought about the "pissing people off" thing when I ride with my brights on during the day, but they're really not that bright when it's daylight. Plus, I'd rather have the extra look at me edge, and if they're pissed, I know they saw me :whistle:
