I just got this helmet from E-Bay and all I can say is wow what a difference, I previously had a old Arai.

This helmet is so light in comparison and it fits my peanut perfectly and the ventilation is outstanding, almost too good in 48* weather, but what a difference on the fogging aspect, it was almost non existent. This has to be one of my best purchases so far since getting back into sport-bikes.

I am onto my second Shoei helmet. The first was an RF700 which I bought only because I struggled to find a helmet at the time that was big enough for my head. More recently, I bought an Shoei XR1000 Badge (known as an RF1000 is the US I think). The quality is great, so I think I will be sticking with Shoei for some time yet.

Thats the Vermulen one I think.

I want one too - as it matches the colour of my bike. However im gonna have to wait, as theyre really spensive here and im gonna have to fork out for a new rear tyre :frown:

Which Arai are you replacing with it?
I'm looking for a new lid too and am getting out of a Quantum S Arai (yup about a decade old).
I'll go do my homework with fittings, but am just curious if my head shape is on target with this Shoei.

I had about a 10 year old Arai Signet, the Shoei diffently fits my head better.

I'm also on my second Shoei. First one was a TZ-1, replaced that with a RF900 which was on sale. $350 off the reccomended price.

You Aussie's sure like your Shoei's, I thought I read where the X11 cost's $1100.00 in the land down under  Is the average wage on the big island a lot higher than in the States? My wife is still in shock over the price of helmets :faint:

Yup, theyre spensive. Thats the price, which is equivalent to $845 US Dollars.

I talked the Honda dealer down to $1050, but i havnt the balls to fork out yet.

    x11

    Confirmed - I'm another x11 believer.

I purchased this pricey lid several years ago (whatever the year it came out), replacing an Arai Quantum I had since 2000. Huge difference.

Vents actually work, doesn't fog up like the Arai did, bits and pieces have lasted longer than the Arai, the visor is thicker and more durable, fits noggin better, lighter, etc. One of the best bike purchases I've made.

If only they made some process that always kept them smelling like new. Oh well...

    How noisy are they.

I purchased a mp3 player, but cant hear it with my current helmet. even when its turned up loud. cant be good on your ear drums.
