So I just got my VFR this fall. I'm in eastern Washington so the winters can be chilly. My question is about winterizing. The bike will be stored in the garage but I hope to be able to sneak in a ride or two throughout the cold months, weather permitting. I was thinking of sta-bil in a fresh tank of gas. Is there anything else I must do to protect this thing? I don't want to be draining fluids and all that because I want to be able to jump on it on the occasional sunny day that gets above freezing.

Only other thing i plan on doing besides the gas is put it on the ceterstand (for the tires) and run it hot one last time (to prevent condensation in the exaust) followed by putting a peice of tape over the exaust tip.

Oh yea, Also a full tank of gas to prevent condensation in the tank.

Sounds like your'e not ready to put it to rest! Your'e like me. I'm hoping for another ride this weekend, as well as a few more over the winter.

About the only thing that you missed in "Winterizing" is the battery. It would probably be a good idea to unplug, remove from bike and store indoors (Off of the concrete) in basement. Bike batteries are susceptible to cold. Don't want to buy a new one in the spring do ya?

Apart from that, it looks like you have the rest of the bases covered.

    Winter sucks......when your a Viffer-Addict!

    Cheers mate!

I'm in Western Washington and I do the same thing ... for the battery, I just leave it on the bike and plug it into a battery tender.

You might want to change the oil and filter if it will be sitting for a couple of months in your garage.
