ha! then lets add on my 240lbs to that and we have a grand total of 465lbs!! I wish i still had my high school strength...i was squatting 375lbs as a one rep max senior year. But i stopped playing baseball, thus stopped practicing and conditioning everyday, but still ate like i did. That is what led to this problem. I was at 195 that year, now im 50lbs over that 6.5 years later.

Same here Bweiss - grow up knowing you can eat a whole pizza, 3 pieces of cake, and a tripple whopper with cheese (diet coke), and not gain a pound because you're chasing cheerleaders around the school yard burning the calories back off. Get out into the real world and years of bad eating habits die hard. That or it was the pack a cigarettes a day that keeps the calories at bay.

Well I've always done bad unless I have someone to work with but I'll try it online. I decided to go for P90X. At least the workouts. I will try to eat better but can't really afford a bunch of powders and bars. I just completed day one and frankly had a hard time moving afterwards. I'm starting this at 247 lbs. Good luck to everyone else as well. I feel your pain.

Good for you! The wife and I both thought week 1 was much harder than week 2. Your body just isn't used to moving like that!

As far as the meals, powders, bars; I found the grocery store has 210-230 calorie protien bars for $1.00 a piece. About the same as a candy bar. And by having the convenient little protien bar snack, it's much easier to eat smaller healthier portions at meal time (because you aren't famished). We don't do much with the recovery drinks. Really, in the end, if you can spend $2.00 a day in protien bars, you'll save it in meals by having better portion control.

Well I'll have to make a trip into a real town for the bars or mixes. I think they would help. Locally their about $2 for tiny cheap ones and any real bars are about $4-5. It sucks living in a small town. Well I've now completed day 2 of P90x and hurt like hell. Good luck everyone.

Good on ya for making the commitment. I know it hurts.....it's supposed to heehee

I have had some luck watching the major chain grocery stores for sales on protein bars. Protein/ fitness bars are like everything else out there these days, that is, lots of them are nothing more than relabeled candy bars, companies looking to jump on the bandwagon.

One thing that seemed to help me was going more for fresh fruit and veggies for those snacks.

    Good luck and congrats bro

The othe rthing to mention, if I miss a workout, I don't beat myslef up for it. If I have to take care of something important I do so. Remember, this is a whole lifestyle change and sometimes the family vehicle oild change before vacation will take precedence over the 45 minute workout LOL!
    Yep this is a biggie.

LOL Yoga, I too thought was for the girls, Haha after me accident I went to see a physical trainer and she said yoga would be a great place to start in getting those muscles lose again, then add in pilates,Pilates - Quick Workout - Sample Exercises Now talk about a killer work out, but like BZ said, it's a life style change as well. Now, if I don't get in some routine which happens to be every morning 5 days a week, I don't feel right at 6'1" 178.

Well, end of week one and I gained .9 lbs. The three day Easter weekend may have contributed; my wife is a really good cook. OK, time to get serious.

The mother in-law wasn't helpfull with the diet program last weekend. I think I did really well though and passed on any second helpings and extra glasses of milk. Probably ate half of what I normally would on a holiday weekend over there.

Just started week 3 and feeling much better after the workouts. Down about 3-4lbs since I starting. After day 1 of P90X I got called up to sub in a softball game, felt like I'd been hit by a truck afterword. Last night I got called up again and the the minor aches and pains feel good! Feels like livin! Of course getting the final 2 game winning RBI's probably helps...

Where's elwray, wasn't he starting a program this week??

Been working out in the field this week -- no office time so no time on chat. Been beautiful weather to be working outside!

Well, the P90x made it from the car to the garage... that's a good start.

But really, the water in the basement finally receded and it's almost all dried out.

This is where I was planning on working out:

It was a nice wide open basement living room.....

Anyway, still subscribed to this thread and I will let ya'll know when I get the ball rolling...

just wrapping up week 3 of the P90X program. Weighed in this morning and I'm down 6lbs. Only missed 1 workout but I played softball and ran a lot of bases so I call it even. I stopped keeping the diet diary as I think I have a pretty good handle on my calorie intake now. The biggest thing is stopping with one helping at meal time.

It's getting harder every day to get up at 5am to workout but seeing the results in performance, on the scale, and out on the softball field with the young bucks helps a lot.

    231.6lbs (dry weight) this a.m.

Just finished week 1 of P90x. Definately doing a sort of diet but I think I will have to start keeping a diary since I think I started eating better but way, way more so I need to cut back on the healthier food. Not willing to get a scale again yet but I'm starting to feel a little better :)
