She runs strong, Got the seals from Captb and got them back in the bike, and the carbs back on with a little effort but with no hitches. The initial fuel leak is gone where it was coming from inthe plastic T's. But now we have 3 small drips. The main carb is not leaking the drip is coming from above the 4 bands where the carbs go back on. When we intially installed we flooded it and had to let it sit. We figured out it flooded cause we didnt hook up a connections and it wasn't getting any spark but once we connected that it fired right up ran stong and is slightly out of sync. But she ran. It sat all night and this morning upon further inspection the bottom area where the 4 bands are, are still wet with fresh fuel right below where the float cap is. If i had thought to take a picture the wet area is between the floats and the top rubber seal.

At this point we are at our thresh hold for what we are comfortable doing. She's running and the pouring fuel problem fixed but we know absolutly nothing about the floats. Is it possible for the leak to be coming from the floats or the fact that shes not sync'd and needs to be. We where surprised and how strong she was from the time we started it before the break down to now. You barely had to push the start button and she was hot. Time is on our side I'm in no rush to get her on the road I just want to beat this carb problem. Give me guidance if we need pictures I can post some in 5 hours when flight ops are over and I can get out of here.

Could be dirt or grit in the float valve or bad rubber on the end not sealing the valve completely, if the PO didn't monkey with the carbs then your float level should be ok, worth checking though if you have a measuring gauge.
Could just be a leaky float bowl gasket too, I'd check that first. I think you can buy those separately from CRC2. Index main

Confessions!!!!If you read this thread I told you guys my buddy was doing the carbs and I was doing the body and clean up. Well after he got the seals yesterday and in light of what we have now I asked him when he had it apart did he clean the insides when it was open mainly the floats and his response was a big fat NO!!( I looked just like my avatar at that point) He was in a hurry to see it run so he just got it back together and we put it on the bike. So the bike might still have sticky floats as the PO thought. We will be investigating this today and I'll let you guys know. Hopefully that will be it.

It won't run correctly at all until you pull those carbs and clean them properly, wires and compressed air in all the orifices.

Got off work aand had her running for about 15 minutes. She is strong runs great. Sounds really aggressive. Still had the fuel leak so we pulled the carbs back off (it does get easier the more you do it). We isolated where the drips where cming from and it's the seal that goes around the floater plate, the damn thing was flat dry and damn near non exsistant. Those soft ass screws were a bitch to get of ended up clamping on the with some needle nose vice grips while turning with a screwdirver with equal turn equal pressure all at the same time. Anyway we had to order new seals and wouldnt you know Honda charges 45 dollas a carb but paying 200 for rhe bike i cant complain. They will be in next week so going to use this time to polish up the tail pipes and paint the motor covers. Sshe is coming along. That a huge bike for a 700 too I dint realize just how big it was until I had to straddle her to rock the carbs back and forth to get em out.

Woah, you could have just ordered the float bowl gaskets for probably $20 from that website on my post if that's all you needed.

But if you want to replace them all and have the $$$, why not?

Those look fairly clean, wouldn't hurt to run them through with some air to be sure the pipes are clean.

Toe Cutter just had the same issue with JTC's bike but realized later that something was not letting it line up perfectly. You might want to PM him and see exactly what that was.
Those seals don't do a whole lot and normally swell after the first leaking, then letting it sit.

Hey super that wasn't a possibility in our case with them not lining up because the 2 PO had never touched them. We are sure the leaks were coming from the these things becasue those seals are totally flat in 1 side they dont even seat in both sides of the grove. But thanks on the tip on the lining up issue so now when we put the new ones in I'll know what to look for. I got to get over to Lazy post now cause upon further inspection we got to replace those 4 rubber seals the carbs sit on cause we just got into that lets take a closer look phase and mine are cracked pretty bad.

I saw them there Big Dukie but we decided to just get the whole kites so i can store some xtra stuff away. I dont plan on getting rid of this bike at all so I want to have me a small stash. Got me a full wiring harness for $20. Don't know if I'll ever need it but after the electrical burnouts I had on my 929 it don't hurt to have spares. I'm going to get me a set of these also and perserve em. You never know.

Hey guys just a quick update. The fairings are all done I bought plastic paint for the paint shop but they ended up using a mil spec white that not only looks awesome but made sort of a protective layer over them, they came out really nice. My carb kits should be here Wed and then I'll order the boots hopfully ending all my drip issues. After that the rims come off for paint new tires and dyna beads. Trying to get her to a work in progress stage where I can ride and fix bolt on stuff at same time. I'll post pics of the fairings tomorrow. The tank isn't done yet I'm 2 toneing it white on the bottom black on top, the white needs to cure before we shoot the black. I also have to order the decals. It should be done in about 3 weeks at the rate we going.

So is this double secret squirrel mil spec radar absorbent triple refractive paint? Looks great!
If you haven't, definitely get with ToeCutter for carb troubleshooting help.

Also it generally helps new guys if they post pics of the cool mil spec stuff they work on....

Vfrhusband you are 1 silly dude. Love the patch. The picture dont do the paint justice. There is like a super shell on the fairing like the paint didnt paint it, it formed a protective shell and the fairings are inside of it. It's not natural. Came out good but not natural.
