after a winter in the garage, my old '87 vfr750 (FH in the UK) is almost ready to stretch her legs again. One thing stopping is the brake light being stuck on. Before I pull out the spanners, can anyone offer any advice? Having a baby means I don't get enough time to look after the bike so going in prepared is best!! thanks Matt
There are only two switches and one of them is probably sticking closed. I would think that the rear one would be the easiest to disconnect, to isolate which one is the culprit. Hopefully just a little action or cleaning will fix it.
^^^^^ As Karazy sez, start with the rear switch: it's usually at fault when light stays on, while front switch fails most often by not switching on at all.....
It's that black, plastic, threaded thingy, just aft and above of the pedal. It allows you to adjust when the brake light will come on.
Do I typically need to purchase a new switch if this is the case? Where is it located? Just purchased my bike and only the foot brake actuates the brake light. Thanks!
