Hot weather jacket

Im looking for a well ventilated jacket.
Something for riding in Hot Weather
Any one recomend one theyve tried or have?

Ive got a good one, but no ventilation, made for a cooler climate and I sweat in it, especially above 30 deg.

 

I have a Tourmaster Intake jacket and really like it. The mesh allows for a lot of air flow.
It seems well made and has liners for wet and cold weather.

 

I have a Tourmaster Mesh-Tex jacket, pants and gloves. Jacket works quite well. Probly less protection than full leathers, and I wouldn't wear it on a track day, but for regular commuting, I feel comfortable enough. I have owned version 1 and version 2, version 3 is now out and offers CE approved armor.

I haven't done any large scale search on them, so you might find better pricing elsewhere. But New Enough is usually pretty good, and I can vouch for their customer service.

I've got a Joe Rocket Phoenix mesh I've been pleased with. It's about 4 years old now and has held up pretty well (never crash tested though...thankfully). Definitely lets a lot of air through, feels like I'm wearing just a tee shirt.

Icon TiMax. I sold my JR Phoenix to buy it, much better jacket, IMO. If I didn't get the Icon it would have been the Alpinestars ACR Air-Flow or Teknic Supervent. Icon also makes a perforated leather jacket, the Pursuit, but it's pricy at $350.

Yeah, I hate summer seeing as I've only got my DriRider jacket.

Been wondering whether or not to buy a mesh jacket. Also, I want to get a set of leathers at some stage...

 

I have an alter-ego that if nothing else is versatile. For whatever weather, it is great --- crash?? I've only rolled down a hill 15 feet :redface: whilst walking :redface: It has a rain proof liner that works really well, but the jacket itself gets soaked in heavy rain and tends to act like a swamp cooler -- thus I use a rain jacket over it. Tour Master makes the same model now which looks to me to be a little better made ... so if interested in this type of jacket, I'd check them both out.

 

My riding buddy has a Tourmaster Intake Mesh jacket and he really loves it. I've looked at about a dozen mesh jackets from the various manufacturers, and I really think the Intake is the best one out there. The mesh material seems thicker and tougher than the other brands, and the armor seems to be as good as any of the street jackets out there.
I plan to buy an Intake in the spring since it's a little too cool to wear one now.
Just my two cents....good luck on your decision....let us know what you decide on.

Got a RJays Octane. Its comfortable - and fits good. It was cheap.It has good ventilation, but in 38 deg C today, it is still hot with all the hot air blowing through the jacket, but at least the sweat gets a chance to dry and cool you down.

 

Ventilation is a big issue for me here in the tropics. I keep trying to find the perfect jacket (but have not found it yet). Ranked best to worst in terms of ventilation, here is what I currently own:

1. Joe Rocket Phoenix 2.0 (discontinued but still out there)
2. Joe Rocket Rio
3. Joe Rocket Phoenix 4.0
4. Joe Rocket Reactor (perforated leather sleeves)
5. Tourmaster GX Air
6. Tourmaster Flex (with removable panels off)

There are endless threads about the relative merits of each of these. But my first hand experience is that the Joe Rockets are best for air flow. I really like my Tourmaster Flex, but it starts getting hot around 78 degrees F. Mid-summer in Florida, the earlier version of the Joe Rocket Phoenix is best.

 

I have a JR Phoenix and really like it. I went down at about 20mph and the jacket held up very well, minor scuffing, no holes or broken seems. Here in Albuquerque we get summer weather well above 110 F and it is comfortable as long as you’re moving. I got mine a size larger than I usually wear as the JR stuff seems to run a little small.

 

Moto Dry

After moving from the blue mountains down south up to sunny and F******G hot brisvegas, the old dririder , all be it keeping my dry, just didn't cut it up here. I know I have to loose weight but riding in a mobile sauna was not my idea of fun. So went to the local bike shop and picked up a moto dry for about only $150 AUD. good, can be a little short but not to bad.

just be warned though when the liner is out to take advantage of the airflow if you get caught in one of the summer afternoon downpours that we get up here you will feel like you need a snorkel and flippers.

 

I have a Honda Goldwing Mesh jacket I use CE armour in, I have a PowerTrip Black Diamond Leather mesh jacket and an Icon Pursuit Leather Mesh Jacket with armour. I wear the Honda Goldwing Mesh Jacket and the Icon Leather Mesh mostly in the summer. The sleeves come off the Icon Leather mesh jacket. I am looking at an AGV Tex-Leather Mesh jacket to add to my collection this summer. The PowerTrip Black Diamond Mesh Leather jacket has no armour but is good for street riding in the early spring and the Fall here in NYC. I usually wear leather chaps or leather overpants, but want to get the Tex-Mesh pants with armour this summer. The TourMaster Decker leather pants are my favorite riding pants at present.

 

All of these are good suggestions. My wife uses a PowerTrip ballistic and I use a Marsee Ballistic.

It gets pretty toasty in Alabama. That said, we have 8 weeks of near freezing weather!:biggrin:
