Which filter do you reccomend for a 1986 VFR 750f. If you own one of these do you know if the part # changed?
Thanks, I have one that got on e-bay and its not the same as the one on there now. Old one is longer and thinner -the new one is short and fat.

there are a TON of threads about this one....tires, oil, and oil filters are easily the 3 most hotly debated issues in any automotive forum, be it about cars, bikes, or whatever. the best advice anybody can give you is to do your own research and use what youre the most comfortable with morally and financially.

any oil filter that will fit the Mazda MX-5 Miata will fit your bike. I tend to be quite biased toward Mobil 1 as it has done me very well so far. The 2 Mobil 1 oil filters that will fit your bike are the M1-108 and the M1-110. the 110 is about an inch longer, and cool if you have no lower fairings on your bike, though ive learned that if you have lowers, the 108 is FAR easier to change out.

one piece of advice i will give you though, avoid Fram at all costs. that brand is the epitome of cheap crap, and i wouldnt give a fram filter to my worst enemy.

again, if you want a variety of choices, just look up filters that fit a mazda miata, or believe it or not, my fiancee's 2008 Nissan Altima 4 cyl even uses the M1-108, so any filter that fits the 2.5L four cyl Altima will work for your bike too.

Ya know the only smart thing I can say is I use the K&N's exclusively now. For no other reason than that little nut thingy on the top. Makes thaking it off a hell of alot easier, especially on the inline 4's behind the header.

+1 I saw one test of the fram and little orange beads of glue were coming off and getting in the oil pick up screen.

Make sure the Filter has a anti drain back valve. In the 70s I worked for Toyota and saw a few early cam component failures due to aftermarket filters with no anti drain back valve. Everytime the engine was shut off all oil from the top end drained back to the pan. Hard to get it fixed under warr. I run oem on everything especially while under warrantee, just in case, if there was a issue they can't weasle out as easily.
