I was talking to the local bike mechanic today when I dropped the bike of for a service. He told me that no one has had to have their VFR 750-800 rebuilt yet because it's done to many miles. It's a pretty tall call to me. Do you know anyone who has had their motor rebuilt?

I believe if you read the account of the guy in Europe who uses bikes for his job doing some type of delivery he rebuilt one after a couple hundred thousand miles or so.

My 2004 spun a rod bearing at 10200 miles. I don't know the history on it, I assume it was over-reved or run on one wheel for too long.

At that low of mileage it's either a factory defect or a squid raggin the snot outta the engine.

Holy shit. If that's 440,000 MILES that equals 708,000 Kilometres. That's Ridiculous  I'm thinkin' the only time anyone would need to to rebuild a VFR is if they did sumtink stupid like Rev the nuts out of it day in, day out for a couple of years.

I can see some of these engines going many miles. I put 68,000 miles on my 1970 CL450 in 3 years with just tires/brakes/chains/batt/points/plugs/oil&filters/valve adjustments and 3 steering head adjustments. Nothing else was ever touched, when I sold it my friend put 8k on it and sold it. That was a air cooled old school bike and small twins get run hard. That was the most miles I put on one bike, after that I've allways had 3 or more bikes at the same time and don't get to try to wear one out.
