Since Randy asked me what my SLO bound status is in a different thread, I figured I'd answer him in this thread. Funny you should ask today, Randy. Last night, just as I was about to unleash my beautifully designed oratory to my wife about the benefits of me spending Memorial Day weekend in California, she hands me an envelope and asks me to put in the mail on my way to work the next morning. So as to be the ever attentive, loving husband showing interest in everything she does, I inquire about the contents of the envelope. Quite cheerfully she responds that it is the RSVP for a wedding of some friends of ours. How wonderful I reply, that sounds like fun (again, lying through my teeth for that good husband appearance). Also inquisitive and cheerful about being able to attend functions together (see previous parentheses) I ask her when the blessed event is taking place? I am guessing you can tell by now where this is going. Of course it is on Memorial Day Weekend. The only upside to this is that this little tidbit of info arrived before I tried to convince her I should be out of town on that particular weekend. At least now I have the chance to rework my compelling argument to be absent and how much fun she can have at the weeding without having to worry about me getting too drunk and embarrassing her...hmm, if my first attempt fails, I guess I could use that as a threat. Off to the study to compose....

You bet. I saw you dancing in Leavenworth Wa last year so you should have a case. Besides, marriages last only on average 5 years. Friendships are forever. So which is more important and event?
