Hello, first post here after lurking for a bit. Great forum! I recently acquired a 1992 VFR 750F that I love but the front suspension is a bit soft. I have no idea when or if the fork has been serviced.

Someone suggested installing Progressive springs and doing a fluid change+ whatever else comprises a complete service. Is that considered a quality upgrade? I know nothing about those springs. I'm aware that fork tubes from other Honda sport bikes can be installed as well but I was hoping that someone could list my options from easiest/cheapest to best w/o cost factored in.

If there is already a huge thread on this question, feel free to biotch-slap me towards it. I have a lot of BBS experience on other boards and know the protocol but I'm terrible with a search engine. One other question: Is my stock suspension fully adjustable? Partly adjustable? TIA for any help!

Changing the fluid and adjusting the fluid amount should yield some improvement. I believe the stock springs are already progressive. The important thing is to get springs that match your weight and riding style. Racetech can help here to match the best spring rate to your situation, they offer linear rate springs. Link: Sport Bikes They also offer valves that will improve the feel and response.

On the upper $$ end you can swap in forks from a RC51 or 929/954. Basically you will need the whole front end, forks, wheel, calipers, RC51 upper and lower triple, new head bearings etc. It's not too difficult but the parts can get pricey.

Try searching again here or on vfrdiscussion.com. We need pics of the bike too, welcome!

Thanks a lot. I wanted to post a pic of the bike, (I know the rules, lol), but it needs to be hosted on another (remote) web site(?) Am I missing something here or are we doing this 1990s style?

EDIT: My bad, I misunderstood the navigation on the reply page.

looks like the one in my garage.

For me (220lbs) maxed out front preload and changed to new 10wt BelRay fork oil - all good. Cost about 2hrs of my time and $17/qt at my local
