Picked up my new 2007 VFR800 in Glory Candy Red this week. After a couple of rides I'm noticing small scratches on the tank from my jacket and pants. What's the best option to avoid this? I've seen tank covers, pads, 3M adhesive, etc. but not sure of the best option. Looking for some feedback.

Although a tank bra provides the most coverage/protection, I have found they will rub the paint around the edges, so you still get some paint damage. Besides that, I think a tank is one of the best aesthetic pieces of a bike, so I hate to see it covered up (I do use tank bags for trips, etc). With that, I am a fan of a simple tank pad. Haven't tried the tank slapper but if you search the threads there is a lot on here about that product.

You should be able to have a tank pad custom made that it's larger and covers more of the area where your jacket and pants rub on the tank. Added benifit of having one custom done is getting a personalised design on it or even just clear but that then covers a larger area...
