old downtubes are 31.6mm and new are 31.4mm considering the new ones were sandblasted and such before powdercoating, i'd say they are the same and thus why i think i got some 6th gen downpipes with my 5th gen headers. which exhaust gaskets are you wanting me to compare ron? the ones between the downpipe slip joint? if so i cant because the old ones were totally destroyed in removing them.

So, removing the evap. canister, as well as removing the solenoids along with the pair-valve modification; isn't that going to set off a bunch of bells and whistles and lights on the dash?

Also, what is the benefit of performing the pair-valve mod, other than making more room around the engine?

Once I install the 330 ohm resistors for the O2 sensors, all SHOULD be good and no FI light should trip. This is the consensus of all the research that I have done through the forums and other places. Should anything need to go back on, I can do it in a matter of minutes. I have made absolutely ZERO permanent modifications to the bike. Most of this stuff comes off/on in a few minutes time with the exception of the headers/slipon. Even then it doesn't take much more than a little bit of patience.

From everything I have gathered, the pair valves are responsible for the harsh on/off throttle response that you get when you roll off the throttle and back on. Their purpose is to further lean out the air/fuel ratio for cleaner emissions thus the harshness when you go from an extremely lean mixture on deceleration to something much more rich on acceleration.

Questions like these are part of the reason I have all of this documented with lots of pictures. There really isn't anything comprehensive out there that tells exactly what to do, what it does, or what you need parts wise to do all of this. I've spent a lot of time searching various places to gather all of this.

Wow man, that is one thorough job you've done so far. Do it right or don't do it I say, well done.

Thank you. I've done the half-assed approach many times in the past with things and that is the same conclusion I have come to. If you don't do things right it just doesn't seem to turn out as well or last as long. It is why things have taken so long and ALMOST everything has gone perfectly as planned. Would have went perfectly smooth had I not gotten screwed on FleaBay.

I just removed the pair system and all the crap that goes with it.
I have noticed ( should note I opened the air box as well ) faster throttle response and a tad more on the bottom 3,800-4,600 rpm.
I dont have a power comander.
Mr. Loaf on the airbox you can use a vacum plug to fill where the pair valve line goes into it, just stuff it in backwards ( its 3/8" dia ) and use a 1/8" ratchet drive to stuff it all the way in or silicone it closed and let it sit over nite.
or because it is above the filter you could just leave it open.

I have made my own plates ot of 1/8" anodized aluminum and might post up a kit some time next week due to all the interest in them.

Well I haven't had a chance to do to much and there really isn't too much that I can do at this point. I went ahead and installed the O2 eliminators, plugged the airbox, re-routed one of the vents for the tank, installed the stopper for the center stand, and put new oil in my forks. I'm too lazy to go grab the camera and pull the pictures off it right now so I'll do that tomorrow. All I can do till the new downpipes come in is give the fairings a good wash/wax and clean up my front calipers.

The good news is that I talked to the guys doing my ceramic coating and they said they might be able to do the new downpipes the same day that they come in.

I updated a few things up top but there aren't any new pictures. I will get some new pr0n up there for you guys as soon as I can. Might be a few days since I was left standed while waiting on parts and have a lot to catch up on. I have a little left to go but things are starting to wrap up here. I'm very very pleased with how things have turned out so far but have some more work to do. I wasn't able to get the new rear pipes ceramic coated as I didn't have 48 hrs to wait for them to do it. I will just wrap them for the rest of the year. Come winter time I will remove them and then send them in to be coated to match the rest of the headers. Depending on how my exhaust wrap holds up, I might take the mid pipes for the Lasers to be coated as well.

It is up and running. I haven't had much time today as I've been catching up on a lot of things. Once I can find one of my good microphones and get a little bit of time I will in fact get a get a nice high quality recording of exhaust. That was one of the things that irritated me so much when searching out the Lasers... Very few clips of it were available to listen to and those that were out there pretty much just sucked. I will rectify that. The next few days are going to be pretty busy for me but I think I'll get some time in this weekend to work on things and get things straightened out.

Heh, I still haven't "finished" it yet. I haven't had time and I have to shut the bike down to do so. The rear downpipes that I had to scramble for at the last minute have to be ceramic coated and I have to take the headers in to have them redone as well since their coating wasn't done right. They are going to redo the headers for free. I also have some minor fitment issues where the left set of pipes don't quite line up right and have an issue with the slip joint where the mufflers meet the midpipe coming apart. I plan to have some loops TIG welded on and use springs for that. and it also resolves a majority of the alignment issues. Once I get all of this done I will get her re-dyno'd and tuned and it will be finished. Since winter is coming very soon, I will be able to take care of most of this in the next month or so. I've put 7k miles on since I last posted in the thread AND my car has been down for the count for the last 5 months so I couldn't have shut it down to finish if I wanted. Now that I have the car fixed for the winter season and I wont be riding the bike, I'll be able to tackle this last bit. Had I not encountered the problem with the downpipes, I would have had time to take care of all of this during the mod process.

I will get some sound clips if I can soon. I've been quite happy with the mods that were done. Prior to the mods, there wasn't a chance in hell of a power wheelie and the bike was just plain quiet. Now that I've got the mods done I have plenty more grunt, surging is all but gone, and the sound is just fantastic. If I could go back and do it all over again I would in a heartbeat. I lost a few mpg depending on how I ride but I think it was worth it. I usually average 38-39 now with the occasional 41mpg. Before I averaged 41-42 with the occasional 44mpg.
