    Hey guys,

I've got this little dilema: I have an 86 VFR 750 that I've had for a few months now and I'm happy with it. However just recently, somebody offered to buy it and that got me thinking. Do I sell it and get a different bike that costs about the same or do I keep it?

I could of course keep it but I am concerned about my long term options with regards to resale and parts sourcing. The longer I keep this bike, the faster it's value goes down. Of course, value goes down on every bike but with mid-80's bikes its worse and it's really difficult to find parts as it is. How's that gonna be in 5 years? Worst case is this bike spends some time in the shed while I hunt for parts and I could possibly end up selling this for a bag of peanuts. Still, if all's well, this bike's awesome.

If I sell it, it'd be for something that's readily available and more current, but less cubes. Again, it'll most probably be a Honda Super 4, Hyper Vtech from around 2002-2006. This thing really handles as well but obviously, it's down on power. Upside is, parts galore and very easy resell as there are tons of scooter riders here looking to trade up.

One thing tho is that this is a second bike and not my main one so I could handle it if it stays in the shed for a little bit. On the other hand, Super 4 is definitely the smarter option. So, it's really a question of smart and practical or the highs and lows of classic bike icon ownership.

    Any thoughts?

    regards,

    PS.

I live in the Philippines. For that price, it's 400's or something from the same era. Everything else is at least double the cost and way over budget for a second bike.

Comparing both bikes, the CB400 is definitely a short distance bike, it weaves in and out of traffic really easilly. On the highway, I definitely feel more secure on the VFR most probably due to the windscreen, powerband and slightly heavier steering. If I were to trade it, I'd definitely put a steering damper on the 400.
