Hi guys....and gals. I have a 5th gen and live in the San Diego area.....I am a VFRcholic. This weekend I was in a secure desert testing ground where the long rumored 8th generation V5 VFR was undergoing rigorous testing. Here is the the bike in obvious disguise and you can clearly see the missing 5th cyclinder! Some needy kid named Derstuka (Code name of some sort) referred me to this site for more details. Later he took us on a surreptitious route to another secret location where some assembly is taking place. This is the auto choke actually................Jason, I think is his name, has never operated one and did not know how to even get started using one. Seems like a good guy though...considering how young he is. Anyway you had to be there:crazy::crazy: Here is my bike on tour in the Sierra. Thanks again Jason for introducing me to VFRWorld and making me register so I could say these kind things about you. I hope I can contribute in some way. See ya ...and Thumbs Up Jason.
Howdy boss! I was hoping you would remember to chime in after your nap and before the earlybird special nearby! LOL. Do not forgot to cash in your complimentary and her :llama: (we lost the donkey, and only have a llama now)....she might be used, but some folks just consider that "experience"....just be sure to hose her down when you are done. Oh, and the llama needs to be brushed once a day. I don't know who that kid was on that red bike, but BOY OH BOY he know how to ride....damn handsome chap too! He even felt so sorry for some lonely old guys who could only cough up enough scratch for a "COUGH COUGH" KLR650" COUGH COUGH. I mean, sometimes you have to "pay it forward" and help out the underpriviledged as the old saying goes. :loco: Ahhh....Mr Todd and his sexy tights (I saw some lingerie in his tent but did not ask questions). :xxx: The search for the missing "5th cylinder"....we are SO close you can smell it...shhhhhhhh...don't forget to put the tinfoil on your head so "they" cannot read your mind. Mr Todd about ready to do his dry lake bed top speed run in chase of the missing 5th cylinder! Gathering our thoughts and I had to show Todd my extreme expertise of HJC shields that come flying off....LOL John Deere whippin' up a mess of dust. There is that handsome chap again....sure knows his stuff. T & J couldn't swim,so I manned up! :strong: The red beast is not even scared of prehistoric creatures! Even elephants were roaming around. The boys even took the time to stop and smell the flowers....aawwwww. Thanks a lot for letting me join your posse boss. This hombre knows how to choke a choke. Because of him, I am now a certified master choke.....I FEAR NO CHOKE ANYMORE!!! P.S. Be wary of leaving your furniture around this man.....as he has a chair fetish....LOL
Glad to be here. I try to camp down there at least once a year...Spring usually. This year it was an all KLR deal till Jason invited himself over for chokes. Last year we had a 650 Dakar and few lighter bikes as well. The best way for me is to set up a base camp with all the fixings. Some ride in of course. Relax, ride, eat, drink and then do it all over again. Jason about to cloak again. I do ride the VFR....somewhere in Canada ...2009
I resemble that remark..............in so many ways. On the way to Fonts Point Anza-Borrego Park last year. I do ride the VFR really...........Sherman Pass..Southern Sierras
Hello and welcome aboard BonusVFR. It's fairly evident from your first post that you're gonna fit right in here at the nuthouse. Gotta say that desert riding sure looks like a helluva lot of fun! I've got an old '87 Honda XL600R myself. I would really like to try that someday, but alas there are no deserts here in the Frozen Wastelands of Wisconsin. Mostly just snowmen and frozen tundra and stuff.
It is a ball but as you can plainly ...you see sand can be a challenge though..............for me. Winter means you can really enjoy the desert!!! Switching between a VFR and a KLR is like going from Road to a MTB...........always fun and makes you appreciate the other that much more. KOFA National Wildlife Refuge...March last year. Picacho State Park along the CO River in California But that VFR is incredible in the high passes.....Sonora Pass California My second favorite part of Goldrush RT49 Tioga Pass....Yosemite
KOFA National Wildlife Refuge...March last year. WOW....that BLUE KLR sure is purty! Is that that top secret model with the supercharger? But that VFR is incredible in the high passes.....Sonora Pass California This is absolutely beautiful! Thanks for sharing buddy! I hope you have that KLR (and the crash guards) all polished nice and purty!
Mr Todd, Here is a rare glimpse of the generation 8 VFR with the "5th" cylinder being activated! Just be sure to be at a safe distance should you ever catch yourself behind it!
Bonusvfr, look like you are very active in riding. Our next trip is in May 29 to SLO If you are interest it, PM me or Jason this is a one a year gathering for the west............Big party lot of funs
I let him know about the redneck party.....he is pondering if he is to come or not. Thanks for the reminder buddy!
Ohhh.Hi Jason, Glad to have you back. You must got kidnap by those midgets again...............How lucky you are Are you heading to the desert this weekend?
What you so crudely call crash bars.........Well I like to refer to them as Nap restraints. Here my bike is napping again in the middle of the day in AZ. It was not like it was my fault the bike just decided to take a nap all by itself. One thing I really appreciate is when "Buddies" document this stuff for you. I mean what are "Friends" for anyway? I do better on the VFR though...so far anyway although I have grave situations in the garage. Speaking of limitations..........since I like to camp about 50% of the time,I like to coordinate my "camping" to be concurrent with my buddies visits to Parks such as Yosemite. I really like chaps who bring their wifes.........with strong domestic skills....I think they call it cooking. A man has to know his limitations!!! Yosemite on tour My tent by the Merced in Lower Pines Campground. My Cot is too big for the VFR...drat!
Jason gave me a heads up about SLO/Atascadero. Have to review my "work" schedule. Two years ago I spent about half the day on this in the backcountry up there. I did see a lot of these cute little guys on my trip..............makes you love guns don't it! Here is one of the routes I made after the fact from my Zumo tracks. Tight stuff...indeed.
Sometimes bikes can be such jerks... taking naps at the most inopportune time! Welcome a broad! Ahem.. I mean a bord... i think?
