    OK. I just changed the oil for the frist time thie season. I'm not sure what the PO had in it but I put in 10 - 40 rotella synthetic. Before I changed the oil the level window was perfectly fine. Now when I look at the window it's got a white couldy look to it.... What did I do?

    hmmm... some questions;

    white clouds or black clouds?

    do the clouds move in the oil or stay static(if you move the bike)?

    what did the oil you took out look like...black or grey?

    normally milky oil means water contamination..so it really depends on what type of cloud your seeing? can you post a pic?

    it could be to do with the oil used? ive not heard of it before...is it motorcycle specific...because it needs to be.

    The oil was a white cloud on the inside of the window. The oil that came out was a really nice dark clean brown (it was transparent, not so bad it was black). After I posted on here I did a search in google for "cloudy oil". The results I got were consistant with your reply. IT said that sometimes it happens after an oil change and that the oil needs to be run up to temp to evaporate any water.... Well, I went out and let it idle for a bit then took it for a spin, and when I got back it was all perfectly clear.

    Ah, that's a very useful piece of information. My VTEC has been off the road all winter and I noticed the other day when I was giving it a fettle that the oil had a white cloud in it. I was starting to panic thinking I had moisture in there ( and yes I know I still have). I will crank her over tonight and let her warm up ( and get the seat off and read the manual)
