I would be very interested in the back rest too. It would have to be pleasing to the eye though. I have seen a couple on VFR's and whilst I am sure they do the job they looked horrible!

Working on second prototype for the backrest.....first one sucked. Frame sliders are just not working. I tried using the frame mount but the fluid resivoir is just right in the way. There are some lower mounts I am going to try and use and then bring up some to still be functional. Sucky results so far.

Motovation has a link that shows how to mod the coolant bottle to run the frame sliders on that support.
the page seems to be down but will post it when I can

Count me in as another one interested in a backrest. My son (5-1/2) begs me to ride on the VFR, but without a backrest I'm just not that comfortable with it even though we only ride around the neighborhood. On my FZ1 I had a Corbin with the optional backrest that slipped into the rear of the seat.

I also would be interested in a backrest... can't wait to see pictures/drawings

As long as people are pitching you ideas, have you ever considered making crash bars / crash cages? Similar to the ones on the Japanese Police VFRs? Or the stunt cages stunters put on their CBRs? I've looked everywhere for a set for my 6th gen and I can't find anything. Those would also allow to mount aux lights.

    Hey Guys,

I'm a Mechanical Engineer and Machinist who just bought a 6th Gen.

Whats the status on the backrest project? I'm interested!

My shop is mostly sheetmetal forming, so I'm developing some ideas on a Pelican Case - as a Trunk, to mount over the rear seat. ( I can't stand the huge overhung loads of where GIVI thinks it should go.)

I have the ability to scan the bike into the 3D model world to save some time.

Sorry, not interested in the back rest, good luck with the design though. Just wondering how difficult it wold be to do mirror mounts that allow CBR1000RR mirrors to be used on the Viffer? i have spotted some CAD looking mocks ups on another forum, but can't remember.
