Agreed! So I did this to mine.... Very simple using a 900RR header and what ever can you like. I had a Can made for me and pressed onto the pipe so I didn't need a hanger.

YouTube video of exhaust. Best sounding system I've found for the 919, but I'm kind of partial to anything I come up with.

Thanks, I wish I would have take the pic with the new tire on it. That was the stocker with about 8000 miles on it, we don't have many turns around these parts so it gets pretty flat in the center. On the plus side I'll bet I dropped a couple gear ratios with the smaller tire!

Ripper, your bike is ace man - what a differnce the pipe makes- wow.
I went to the IOM on my mates 599 and it was a really cool fast sweet handling bike that did 140mph all day long- no speed limits there!!. I can only imagine what the 919 would be like.

Thanks, I doubt that on a track you will notice a difference in the 599 vs. 919. The 919 is heavy and only makes about 10 more HP. If memory serves, the top speed is actually a little better on the 599. The 919 on the other hand was a torque monster and sometimes a bit tough to keep under control. Roll on the power and you are on one wheel in a hurry! I put 108HP/68TQ to the ground with that exhaust and custom map.

I have to know. How did you get Crostini and Condomini to pose like that? Is that one of those gloryholes for squirrels?

I think I need to take blame for the avatar billy. I got Bear into Cormac McCarthy and I think the heavy deprevity has started to take effect.

    Whew brother!

He'll be fine as long as he doesn't get into Joe McCarthy as some have done. ;)

    Hey KC:

I don’t know if you subscribe to Motorcycle Consumer News; if you don’t, well you should!

It is the BEST magazine out there in the US that reports on all things motorcycling. Since they take no advertizing monies and the staff is made of ‘enthusiasts’ I appreciate their honest opinions regarding the products and bikes they review.

Coincidently, the April 2010 issue reviewed the new VFR and Contributor Fred Rau wrote a nice little article called “The Changing Motorcycle Marketplace”. The jist of the article is America is no longer the predominate buyer of bikes. India and China are and they are determining what bikes are being made. Mr. Rau adds much more and if you’d like a copy of the article PM me your address and I’ll send it to you. I think you’ll find it enlightening.

In addition, I feel your pain that variety has left the American motorcycle market. From one fellow MSF Coach to the other, I’ve found it very hard to recommend ‘starter’ bikes to students who have been successful in the class. The Ninja 250, Yamaha Fz6R or whatever it’s called and a few others are nice choices, but there are no 300 to 500 cc choices other than a few cruisers and the used bike market in America can be a scary place for the newbie to shop. Just look at the number of “Look I found a VF500 to fix” threads here on VFRW.

Finally, MCN gave the new VFR absolutely glowing reviews. They agree it is a full on ‘sports-tourer’ now. The race heritage is gone. But for all the 6th gen owners who commute, ride far distances and carve the twisties, sounds like the new VFR will not disappoint.

Anyway, let me know if you want the articles.

    Peace,

    BZ

Here's another. It has 12 forward gears on a split axle and 3 reverse. Air brakes with auto dryer and a power take off. You need the power take off to run the bailers you tow behind to feed the cattle on the back.

This is directed at everyone who thinks this is an interesting topic, and not at KC-10. (but thanks for bringing it up) I've been buying and selling several 70's standards over the last decade. They've got something I like, too. I see the point of wanting modern reliability and performance, but if you only spend 1500 bucks on the machine, you can do a hell of a lot of upgrades with the next 5,000! I think the definition of "standard" is pretty slippery with the crew on this thread. Honda 599 Hornet? I shopped and looked at 10 of them before I hit the VFR. What stopped me was that nobody would budge on price for an ugly and old cycle, and all aftermarket goodies came from Europe. I also think the CB1100 is exactly what we are looking for. I also think it will tank in sales. Anything with taste and distinction is pissed on by the American Public. i.e. KC's lament.

That is the first time I've seen the weight on the tractor not put on the wheels or way-up-front. She's sitting too far back to reduce pulling the front wheels off the ground.

On a seperate note, why does her seat have holes in it?

What is disturbing is the driver has a smile on his face. I wonder if one of those hoses on the tank are hooked up to something?
