My clutch doesn't engage until the last 3/8" or so. I use two fingers clutch. I've had a hard time making smooth shifts. It seems like the lever only needs a light squeeze, rather than a pull, for a smooth shift.

Is this a sign that I may need a new clutch? It doesn't feel like it's slipping.

I've had my '98 for 2 months, after trading in my SV650S. The VFR has 29,000 miles on the clock.

    Thanks,
    Eric

Its quite typical for these bikes and the hydraulic clutch. You will more thank likely get used to it. Mine is just like it (2004) and shifts smooth as butter.

Thanks Meatloaf. Tomorrow's a sunny day - more chance for me to get used to it.

I just checked out your photo gallery. Man, you got that black Just Right!. Black is always the right color for a motorcycle, isn't it?

Thanks, I fell in love with the asphalt black when I found out about it. Before then I was dead set on getting one of the RWB bikes. I stumbled across this on craigslist and that was it. I wouldn't change it to save the world either.
