Tony, you must be running some hockey pucks for tires or are you turning them inside out?

Hey guys..I think I want to get a Sargent seat for my bike. How much of an improvement is the Sargent seat over the stock seat? I can ride all day with the stock..no problem, but I think for a 700++ mile ride, I might upgrade.

The sargent seat is well worth the cost, I wish I had gotten it sooner my ass was getting tired of those all day rides! You can get a real good price for them at sandhillspowersports.com Note that they can't display the price on their site you have to email them. Here's a direct link to the VFR sargent seat: Sargent Honda VFR800I > Seats > Street > SandhillsPowersports.com

ok ladies :smokin:, here's a great place to buy yer michelin pilots (power or road).
    TIRES, WHEELS & WARMERS-Michelin tires-Pilot Power 2ct from SportbikeTrackGear.com
i get all my meeecheelins from stg. now, to find a place for inexpensive pirelli's (i want a set of angels for my vfr).

wifey and i were on the cherohala today:thumb:. up ontop there was over a foot of snow:smow: on the sides of the road. temps were in the low 40's. we passed one car from tellico to the bridge near robbinsville. i don't know if this winter has fu*ked with the roads but there was a lot of bucking (couldn't see 'em but sure did feel 'em). i don't ever remember the skyway being 'bumpy' before. maybe it'll smooth out before we get on it this spring. it was great to be out riding today. rest of the week is supposed to suck though.

    cheers:hi2:

Sounds like frost heaves, Bill. That's what screws the roads up further north. Eventually the irregularites will settle out as the ground warms. FYI Hardracing.com Michelin tire prices are better even with shipping.

Just a suggestion for those in charge of the event planning, coordination, etc. Some of us (myself included) who are going to try (or will be) attending the event have met very few of the members around here. I highly suggest putting together some sort of emergency contact list for those who may have troubles along the way to the event. If KSL isn't going to be able to hold everyone, maybe have a group leader and a few others at each place of stay that ANYONE can get ahold of to their destination.

Wrestler is the only guy I've had to privelage to meet from here. He had major issues on his way to meeting up with me and lucked out in having his laptop with him to pull contact information and save his butt because he was still several hundred miles away from me and our destination. I wouldn't have been able to do much since I was also a few hundred miles from home and on the bike even if he had called me.

Perhaps get a list of those who are trailering or bringing a camper/RV and see if they can bring some tools along should something more need to be done other than adjusting preload. Maybe even one for each site if possible and have them designated as a "go to" guy.

A little bit of extra planning can really help others out should they be in a time of need both with the situation and it not mentally bumming them out. Should those who would be on this list of contacts not want to have their numbers posted on the forums, sending out a PM or making it available in a PM/email upon request should suffice.

I also suggest updating the original post of this g2g to include the information on the calendar or at least a direct link to the calendar for those who are still thinking about it, haven't commited, new to the boards, or might be forgetful.

you're right Dan, it's been a few years since i've had to deal with the frost heaves. fortunately, there aren't many big trucks or much automobile traffic that pass over the cherohala at this time of the year, otherwise they'd be like those crappy northern road. thanks for the hardracing site:yo:. i'll definitely check out their prices!

good points. i know there are a few guys trailering their bikes and i assumed tools would be on board but again, that's an assumption. i may bring my serial-killer van and bring along an extra bike if no one commits to bringing a rescue vehicle (my van will have ramps and has tie-down hooks). i can bring a few tools too. i will commit to being a contact.
anyone may PM me if they want my phone number. i'm in southeast tn so can assist folks between chattanooga and the ksl.
i realize that sh*t happens but we all have a responsibility to have our bikes mechanically sound. don't show up with balding tires and slow everyone down when you crash trying to keep pace on your squared off bannana skins. you can get tires at wheeler's in robbinsville. he's an awesome guy, crackerjack mechanic and has a large inventory of tires.
if you have electrical problems, you may get if fixed by one of the mechanic-types that will be there but don't start riding knowing that you may konk out. brakes! pads are not expensive and not difficult to replace. if i have to stop quickly, i don't want to get speared by someone with weak brakes (don't follow closely anyway).
roadside assistance. cheap and if you are insured you probably have it as a benefit. check into your policy.

i like the idea of a group info center. when we get to our destination, everyone should have their emergency contact info available. god or goddess forbid that something bad happens, but just in case, we need to be able to contact someone. at least keep that info on you (the rider) for the ems folks to use.
i know i'm forgetting other important items but it's good to hash this stuff out now so we don't get all bureacratized at the ksl and lose riding time knocking out these details.

    good post meatloaf :thumb:
