The service manual says the instrument panel bulbs for a 1998 are 12v - 1.7w but doesn't actually list a bulb type. I don't have an owner's manual.

    Anyone?

    Thanks in advance!!

Just take the old bulbs out and take them to any good auto parts store and you can match the number on the bulb or in my case I found ones that looked identical and they worked fine. I found them at Strauss Auto.

I just may as well do that...my bike is still in storage as we still have snow here! I recall having a couple/few bulbs out when I put her to bed...just wanted to be proactive.

    cheers!

Since you have a 5th gen like me you have to remove the entire upper cowl to get to them so you still have some work ahead of you.

WTF you don't have to remove the upper cowl. All you gotta do is reach in the area just behind the headlights in the dashboard. The tricky part is unhooking the pin. Last time I did it it took me about 15 minutes with 10 minutes of that figuring out that goddamnt pin.

You can try that but it become trial and error. I think its better just to replace all the bulbs with the Phillips LL (Long Life ones). I think there are like 8 of them. Joey your hands were able to fit in there?
