This is something I have wanted to do to my 2004 Yamaha FZ1 for a while. Pics are with my cell phone but you get the idea. Allways had a thing for the naked bikes and streetfighters. Got this Fazer after my 81 CB750 & 82 Magna V45 decided they were no longer gonna be that "daily rider" type bike. I did a few mode to make it more what I wanted the last couple seasons. The ProTaper bars, bar mount mirrors, Memphis Shades gradiant screen and mirror block offs. Still, that faiting just never did it for me. Today I decided to put work on other people's bikes aside for a few days & do some thing for me. (Kristin's VFR included).

Lots to pull off and relocate. The RR needs to be relocated slightly and the front wiring harness needs removed from the fairing assembly.

A mounting bracket had to be built and welded up for the replacent Gage Cluster mount & New HeadLights

I have a set of 4 inch duals in a bucket by Custom Chrome that at one time resided on Kristins '06 600 Shadow that are going on this bike and I have statered playing with a Fly Screen. What I dont get done on Sunday will have to wait till maybe the weekend. But so far I'm liking where it's heading.

Gotta admit the upper on the FZ1 never did it for me either. I would use the duals though only because that's what I had already. My preference would be a single large one with no fly screen.

I had a memphis shades screen on an srad gsxr I used to own and loved it. It was the first thing aftermarket on my list for the vfr but they dont make them for our bikes, VERY disapointing... Those screens are the best of both worlds, contrast with the fairings and completely clear where you need them to be for sight. Quality and fitment was great too.

I did set on a 7 inch round I had and it just looked to small, I have an 8 inch bucket but no light. The duals are the way I'm going, Kinda dig the Euro-trash look. The 7'' also lacks the space I need for the wiring harnnes to fit. The Fly Screen may give me space to tuck it away.

Cover/ armored up the coolant fill and thermostat:

    relocted & protected the R-R:

That's It for now. Back to work tomorrow and will have limited time till Friday but will try and get the free time to tear it all down, prep all the fabricated parts, shoot paint, graphics and clear coat, assemble and wire it all up. I'm happy with it so far.

The two tone FZ1 were the "raven" models. Black frame & engine. Only in 03 (yellow-black) "Bee" & 04 (silver-black) "Skunk" by the FZ1-Fazer fans. I'm gonna try and keep in line with the colors when I paint it.

Thanks Tinker, I had to do a couple things in the shop toady before work, but could not get anything done on the Fazer.I have seen that fairing before but IMO only looked good on the Spondon frame SF bikes. My shop is a bit messed up with a few things doing at once but it's in better shape than it's been since last summer.

Couple shots of how the Fazer still sits :(

Man, I love the way you fabricated your own brackets... everything looks clean, and the plates will definitely help you stow away the wiring... I wish my temporary streetfighter fairing looked half as good (but then, I got my new fairings comin')

Kudos on a good lookin' project, and +1 for the lovely avatars we keep seein' from ya hubby... One day, I hope to have a lady that'll look that good draped across my ride...

you gonna paint the diamond plate or leave it shiny? I think it would look pretty cool either way. I was just curious...
