    Hey all,

I've bought some Helibars (brand new, but the older ones, not the current pic on the Helibars site) and bolted them on but am wondering how I get the bar ends attached / whatever is running down the centre of the factor handle bar swapped over to the Helibar?

It seems to be a small lip of metal at the top and maybe some black rubber around a metal shaft? Is it just a case of pushing the two small tabs down through the holes in the end then pull it out or can you buy new ones? It seems pretty well wedged in there, and I'm not 100% sure what it's even for (anti vibration weights?)

Any help would be much appreciated

    Regards

Yes, you have to relieve the two retaining tabs and get them slightly past, then pull, wriggle, and twist until they come out. Mine were very tight, but did come out. As I recall, I put each handlebar in a padded vise, rather than trying to get them out while on the bike.

I took your advice, wrapped both ends in padding, stood on one end and pulled like crap after getting the tabs off. Got it a bit off then turned it round and pulled on both ends and it came out! Smashed my knuckles on the concrete and it looks like the inner rubber was cut (normal?) but I sprayed it with a little WD40 and it slid in the Helibar happily!

Now all I need is grip glue to glue the grips back on and I'm set!

    Thanks for the tip :)

A good grip glue is a shot of rattlecan hairspray. Have everything ready to go first.
