"First thing I would say is that it looks better in the flesh than it does in pictures."

I don't know - it looks pretty damn great in the pictures! If it looks better than it looks in these pics, it's damned good looking!

"I would note that compared to my 6th gen (which I rode back to back with the1200 after the test ride) it feels heavier, but it’s a bit like the CBR1100 black bird in that respect. Once underway it feels easy to maneuver and with a truck load of power! The 6th gen felt like a 600 supersport by comparison afterwards."

Thanks. You confirm what I have read - the new VFR is more a Gran Turismo than the 6th G. Maybe someday I'll want a bike in that vein. But not for me now. The torque sounds like a winner, though. The 6th G's torque is pedestrian.

"Handling wise I found it to be very neutral and balanced. At speed in the corners it feels totally planted and steady. And with mucho power on tap it was easy to power through sweepers at some serious pace. "

How does handling compare with the Blackbird? And other bikes in its class (Yamaha FJR and BMW 1300)?

    How is the saddle?

I see you bought the bike with the conventional drivetrain. What was your thinking on that vs. the automatic?

Anyway, beautiful machine! It is definitely an interesting, great looking bike! Nice write-up too.

Oh, BTW, I see you have already begun using up ALL of your tire. You must have enjoyed the corners.

Too bad about the center stand. Is it an option?
    Great review.

    yep definately a GT bike."[

How does handling compare with the Blackbird? And other bikes in its class (Yamaha FJR and BMW 1300)?- havent ridden a blackbird for a while butfrom what i remember it is similar...but with more usable power. i would say the K1300s is a direct competitor and the FJR is more similar to an ST13.
How is the saddle?- firm...perhaps a little too firm, but its too early to tell.

I see you bought the bike with the conventional drivetrain. What was your thinking on that vs. the automatic?- the auto is not out for about another12 months, will be more expensive and really wasn't a feature of interest too me.

Probably the best review I have read yet. Great narrative and high quality photos. Thanks for sharing.

Nice looking bike with that color. Looks a lot better than mag pics. Sounds like it is a nice GT type bike. More so than the others out there. Of coarse this is just the start of your reviews. I hope. Seeing your the first, your duty is to do follow up reviews of longer rides/trips and to give unbiased opinions of the bike. So others can drool. Other than that have fun with it. Thanks

    oh yea more pictures!

think the horns not at the bottum beacuse when you would hit the blinker kill switch your thumb would slide down natuarlly and hit the horn... for me any ways .... the horn on the bottum seems like it would be saver beacuse the higher you have to lift your thumb the less grip you will have in those bad situations...

In the real world how far can you go before having to refill? I'd imagine you can't go too far with the 4.9 gal tank?

On my/our(wife) test ride in the damp, without panniers there was filth thrown up the back of the wifes legs, and also up to the bars via the fork legs (New fairing aero dynamic's not so good on wet dirty roads?).
I found that the indicator and horn switch position worked well, and soon got used to it.
Lovely surge of power from 3,5000rpm in any gear.
If you ride a VFR you will feel at home with the riding position, quality build and superb motor.
I wait to hear about 'real' fuel consumption and available (larger) luggage though.

Splendid work Richie Rich......just splendid! She looks beautiful!

In regards to the muffler.....IMO about 90% of the bikes out there have a stock muffler which is as ugly as sin. Seems to me, that the vast majority of the owners replace that on whatever bike that they have.

Can't wait to hear more about the riding impressions down the road.

    Thanks for sharing boss!

Thanks for sharing.............. awesome! Just wondering where you live? Green grass in the background, km/h and the SILVER color tells me you are either in Europe or somewhere 'down under'! Either way, mine will hopefully be arriving soon at the dealership!
