I couldn't decide - which is why I own both. Seriously though, I'd say the VF1000R due to the fact that they only made that bike in the US with the dual headlight for just 1 year. They are pretty rare and hard to come by in good shape. Out of all of my bikes, the VF1000R draws the most attention.

THE 750...... because it's much lighter and easier to work on and has better parts availability.

There's no real need for the extra power or weight of the 1000.

Of course if you're among those HP-obsessed adreniline junkys who think the 145 mph top speed of the 750 is just too slow for you....then you'll need the 1000, but you'll never need it otherwise and pay penalties in its sluggish handling the rest of the time.....

I have owned both and would say the 750 is a way more fun and safer bike...no insult to anyone but the 1000 is very heavy and a little to fast for its own good.I would cut my arm off for a clean 1000 but would only ride it with caution and still ride my 750 like an ahole. Two very different animals.

1000R, rare bike with some suspension work it can be made to handle good! but the 86 750 is also a great choice to but both bike have crappy suspension to start with whichever you choose i would look to upgrade forks and rear shock..good luck

67 Camaro or 70 Camaro? Most people will say 67. The same thing applies here, the VF1000R will always get more respect even though it's heavier, etc. etc.

I love the motor in the 1000R. It is strong if not stronger than my 800. It is true that it is a very heavy bike though. The ultimate compromise would be to stuff the 1000R motor into the 750 chassis. I'd love to see someone try that.

I agree with stewartj239, get 'em both. But, either way you'll be smiling ear to ear.
