Hello VFR world! My name is Rob. I recently bought a 1984 VF500, it was so recent I haven't even touched the bike yet. Came via great deal through a friend of the folks and tomorrow we are headed to the wilamette valley to pick it up!

I live in Oregon City, Oregon USA. I am married and have a great wife. When I went to decide on whether or not to buy bike my wife actually pushed me into buying :)

this is my very first bike. I have spent time on quads and have rode dirt bikes in the early 2000s. I'm really excited about this starter bike and am taking the Team Oregon Class next month.

Really excited about new bike and his forum!

Welcome aboard! Please post some pics of that older beauty when you get a chance! How is the overall condition and mileage of the bike? Did you get a good deal?

Just keep in mind that while everyone loves the classic Interceptors they often can be more trouble than they are worth unless the bike has been very well maintained over the years. That seems to be a rarity nowadays and most end up putting signicant time and money into the older bikes. If you are not mechanically inclined this may prove to be very frustrating and expensive for you. As far as being a good first bike, I think the 500 is a good choice in regards to size and power but parts will be expensive and difficult to find. I also wouldn't trust an older bike like that for distance riding unless I was very confident in the bike itself along with my mechanical skills. Good luck!!!
