I have searched the forums for about an hour and didnt find anything that helps. I am trying to paint a top right and lower right faring on my '91 Pear white that i recently bought (used). I dont want to spend the money on color-rite and was wondering if anyone knows of another source for the 3rd gen pearl white paint.

Alex, you may be screwed. All I can tell you is take a panel into a good automotive paint shop and see if they can match it. If not Color Rite had the markey about cornered.

Hello all, new to the site but i thought this would be a good place to start. yes there is a cheaper alternative some NAPA stores do automotive paint mixing. Im in the process af rebuilding a 93 pearl white and i work at NAPA so i did some checking around and there is a three stage pearl white that is almost an identical match but i have not sprayed it yet so im not 100% sure but its awefully darn close hope this helps

Toyota makies a Crystal White that is awful close, but it is still a 3 stage, base coat, color coat and clear coat. And close will show real quick in the sunlight. So, if your going to paint one pice, paint it all.

most automotive paint stores (ones that sell brands like dupont or ppg ect )should be able to match your paint at a reasonable price however pearls are not cheap anywhere

Matching the Honda factory pearl is going to be next to if not impossible even with Color-Rite. Honda spec's out thier paints to the suppliers not the other way round. The basic pigment is mica. Mica is a mineral and must be ground or shaped as just one of the processes necessary to ready it to be a paint pigment.

NAPA has great paint. They sell Martin-Senour. Not all NAPA stores have the equipment to actually mix paint. Martin-Senour is owned by Sherwin-Williams

Bottom line? Paint the whole bike or do a two tone using a contrasting or analagous color scheme on selected fairing parts.

    Thanks Guys,

The fairings are currently primed white and when assembled on the bike they dont look all that bad since they are on the same side. I think that a "close-enough" pearl white will be just fine as the bike itself isn't in perfect condition.

Freeman: i'd like to know how that NAPA 3-stage works for you when spray, if you could please post some pics of the job and please specify the NAPA color code.

I'm getting antsy to get this job done as the weather is getting warm again....aaaaaaaaaah NEED TO RIDE.
