    Hello,

Has anyone atken the ferry from Tobermory to Manitoulin Island? Are there tie down areas for motorcycles? Do I need to bring a couple of straps and my canyon dancer?

I am planning (long time to go yet - snow coming tonight) a summer long weekend up that way and just testing the details.

    Thanks,

    John

The last time I was on that Ferry there were tie downs, but they just provided natural fiber rope. I made sure that I tested the rope strength prior to using. It wasn't that bad though. When I crossed it was a fairly rough day, (enough to make me want to get back on solid ground sooner then later), and by the time I got back down to the bike it had moved close to half and inch (I could see where my kick stand stratched the floor). All in all it is a decent ride up through there.

Thanks for the response. i will throw the canyon dancer and ratchet tie straps in the box, I usually cause rough crossings (!!!). It is good that there is something to tie off on in the decking, as I've taken other ferries that don't offer much, and those are usually the crossings that need tie downs!
