I've finally gotten some photos taken. One of the pictures shows the color of the rims in relation to the fairing. The pearl white on the rims is just a shade darker than the white on the bike. I think it will look OK and help mask the dust / dirt as it accumulates on the rims. On my 500, I went with bright white on the rims and I was afraid that it would stick out too much on this bike.

Those look great! I really like how the spokes smooth out on the front wheel with the powdercoating process(looks nice and easier to clean)

Well, I've got the bike back together and I think it looks like total crap. I was way off on my assumptions. I thought I should go a shade darker on the rims in relation to the bodywork. Take a look for yourself. When the sun shines on it, it looks even worse. The rims are a cream color compared to the white on the fairing.

I've already pulled the rims off and am having them redone. This time, I'm getting them done the same color as I did on my 500. They're going to be a bright white. Live and learn ........

Sadly, I agree with you. They look sorta dingy and yellowed in these fotos. Did you take the side fairing in and ask them to match it, and they goofed the match, or did you just tell them "a bit darker than bright white"?

I did take the rear seat cowl in and I did say that I want it just a shade darker. They even coated a 4" x 6" piece of aluminum for me to take home to put it up against the fairings. At the time, it looked like it would be OK, but as you can see, the final results says it all. It's totally my fault. I wonder if it looks worse because the rims are not flat like how the body work is and that it reflects differently.

It is going to be a bitch to get that powdercoating off....hopefully they won't charge you too much and they don't bugger the rims when they do it.

did you compare the test sample to the actual rims?...once they were done - to see if THEY matched?

I've talked to the shop about this. They're telling me that they should be able to powdercoat right over it. They said that you can do this up to 3 times before you have to sandblast the rims again. If it doesn't take, then he said that he won't charge for the attempt and will then sandblast the rims. I've tried to research powdercoating over a powdercoat and I have found some things online where it is done. I figure I'll let him try it, then sandlast if it doesn't work out.

Actually, the sample looked exactly how I hoped it would - it was a little darker which is what I thought I wanted. It was a mistake and I hope others learn from it.

Well, I finally got the rims back from being redone. They did indeed have to sandblast the old powder coating off. This time, I went with a bright white and as you can see, things look much better. Overall, it cost me an additional $150 to get things straightened out. $50 to sandblast and $100 for the 2nd round of powder coating. It was well worth the money as I couldn't even stand to look at the bike before with the cream colored rims - it made my stomach turn as to how bad it came out. I'm just glad I didn't wait until my next tire change and decided to fix it right away.
