    Hi everyone!

I'm a new member and have a question. I have a totally stock (except for the muffler) 1997 Honda VFR 750F. I bought it new and it's been the best motorcycle I have owned! I usually take it to a motorcycle shop for routine servicing, but one of the headlights are out and I'm thinking of changing it myself.

Do I need to replace the actual headlight or just the bulb? Do I need two bulbs? I want the original OEM replacement, so do you have a part number? Can I buy the bulbs at the local auto store or go to a motorcycle shop?

Is it easy to replace? I'm a total novice at this stuff so bear with me!

Can anyone give me instructions on how to do this?

    Thanks!

I have a 98 so it's a little different, but on mine I can just get a bulb at the local OReilly's and she's good to go... On my bike it seems like I can even get to it without taking the fairing off now that I know where they are and how they mount, it's just a little twist then pull the plug out and pop new light in there. I wish I could say it's the same for you on your 97, but I can't be certain without looking at one. Maybe this reply will bump the message and someone with a 4th gen can verify for us...

The original OEMs were 12V 45/45W, which were upgraded to 45/55W. The actual part number is 34901-MS2-672. If you do much night driving, you may be happier with the silverstar equivalent. There is an H4 adapter available on fleabay and probably other sites as well. The Honda bulbs are quite expensive. It is usually recommended that both bulbs are changed at the same time, to provide equal lighting and the fact that the other bulb is probably near it's end , as well.

They can be changed without any plastic removal, but it is tight. Be careful not to touch the new bulb with your bare fingers. Just remove the connector and boot and twist the bulb out of the socket.

    karazy,

Thanks for the info. I will try to remove bulb today. Alot of people seem to like the silverstar bulbs. Do you have a part number? Thanks!
