    Hello everyone,

Looking pretty closely at a friend's VFR, but I don't know alot about the market for this bike. Can you help me out? Thanks a million!!

I look forward to being a part of the group!

    Here are the deets:

1996 Honda VFR750F Factory Race Red, 19k miles

    Additional modifications and accessories include:

Vance & Hines SS2R oval carbon pipe and rejet
Ohlins fully adjustable remote reservoir shock
    RaceTech "Gold" revalved forks
Steel-braided brake lines front & rear
Corbin custom saddle (black w/red piping) and passenger back pad
OEM tail cowl (in original packaging)
    Carbon fiber rear hugger
    Chrome bar-ends w/throttle lock
    Stebl air horn
    Complete stock underseat tool kit
    Tank bra (SecondLook - black)
    RKA soft bags
Black retro-reflective rim-striping (invisible until lights hit it, very trick)
And Geza stretchy custom bike cover

The bike is in excellent condition - never raced, never crashed, serviced consistently (I have all the service records). It was just serviced with a full overhaul a few months ago. Brakes, battery, fluids and tires are either new or in very good condition.

    $3,500

    Thanks everyone,

    Tim

It sounds like the bike has all of the right mods already done to it and 19k is nothing on these bikes. I know that there is going to be an argument that the mods you put on a bike you will not get your money back from but if the buyer intends on keeping the bike it is definitely a plus to already have them seeing as you would be paying for them otherwise. One thing to consider though is that the reworked forks and expensive ohlins shock are not of much value to you if you do not weigh near the same amount as the previous owner but if you do that makes them one heck of a deal!

I agree with steven. If you know the guy and he seems pretty honest, it sounds like a deal to me. You might get one a little cheaper, but not with knowing him and having those mods. it probably has most of the things you'd want to do anyway, and if you got a bike $1000 less, you'd spend most of it eventually doing some of the same mods.

It's good value with those suspension mods. If the PO was a different weight, it doesn't cost much (relative to the improvement in the bike) to have the springs replaced.

You will have a far better ride that a brand new $10K bike of just about any other brand. I say that coming off a Wee-Strom, FZ1 and Bandit 1250 - none of which will handle like your bike.

Mind you, the FZ1 will effin zoom ya! LOL

The average price for 4th Gens in fair to very good condition is between $3000 and $3500 and most of them are going to be higher mileage. With an aftermarket seat, exhaust, hugger, and suspension upgrades you are getting a great deal for $3500 and best of all the bike has low mileage and you know how it has been maintained !!

The bike is just getting broken in and you should be able to put plenty more miles on her. Just be careful because OEM parts are getting harder and harder to find on the older bikes especially bodywork. Those gear driven cams should help keep a smile on your face for years to come.

    Thank you!!

Guys thanks for your input. I bought my new baby last week and love it!

I am going to go to my local shop to have the sag set, etc. The one thing I noticed is that it's quite divey, like the front end is a little soft. Can I adjust the compression dampers like on my dirt bike?

It is a thing of beauty!

You got a fantastic deal. Knowing the former owner and knowing its history is invaluable. Don't worry about mileage, you have tens of thousands more to go.
