Today the sun was out and so I decided to put some gas in the float bowls and try to start Quadzilla.
For those that do not know I am using a VF1000R engine with two 36mm carbs on two seperate manifolds.

It started with the choke on and it ran for about 1-2 minutes.
When I tried to advance the throttle it would quit. NO backfiring.
May be too rich, or was not warmed up enough .

It sounded very good with the shorty mufflers. A nice low rumble.

I could not get it running again but will give it another try tomorrow
after checking to see if it has a reliable gas supply.

I checked one of the plugs and it was clean and smelled like gas.
I am not sure if I can make any judgements about what was going on yet.

Very cool! Always thrilling to hear a project fire over for the first time!

I am going to try a WEBER 32/36 DGV two barrel.
I put the stock carbs on but what a nightmare!! Worst of any bike I have worked on.
I just do not like the design. I am going to start making a manifold for the WEBER carb.
I have worked in motorcycle shops many years of my life.

The Kawasaki 1500 carbs looked good - but I found out no parts are available now. Especially the needles.
There is one guy in the VROC.org website that collects parts. And he tries to help people with those early 1500 carb parts needs..

I just do not want to work uphill.
The WEBER 32/36 DGV was used on the original 998cc Mini Coopers.

Stock carbs back on. For now. Waiting for the dough for the WEBER.

Don great job so far. Once the stock carbs were on it did you start it again? Not to be a pessimist but the stock carbs may end up being your best bet. Just make a flat V type plate to hold them together and use K&N's. You'll have a little jeting to do but that's all. I'll sound great. I'm thinking you'll have to go thru all kinds of contortions to get the Weber to work right at all rpms. If you go that route for sure then I take my hat off to you. What did you use for a wiring harness for the CDI boxes? What are you plans for the body parts? Think of a color yet? I see a black rear fender.

    Looking good.

I have not started it with the stock carbs because I am waiting for some fuel line I ordered.
    Very anxious to start it.
The entire wiring harness is from a VF1000F.
I talked to an expert today and he said the Weber 32/36 would work fine.
He is going to figure out the jets for me on the Weber.
No"body" or fairings. and the gas tank will be black with a silver top sort of like this.
The gas tank is being painted right now.

Too bad the Kawasaki carbs did not have parts available I liked the way they looked.
