Hey maybe a stupid question - but pretty much every bike I've had I've changed sprockets to make it easier to wheelie (don't need snarky comments thanks I'm a very safe rider) and also get better low end acceleration. Just curious as to whether it would negatively effect ride quality because of the whole VTEC madness kicking in around 6700 RPM. Anyone dropped in new sprockets and have any experienced thoughts for me? Also what combo front and rear would give me fun results.
    Thanks in advance-

    David

I ride -1 front with no problems. I know that some will say going down one shouldn't be done. I disagree because the 6gen is 16 teeth OEM, taking it to 15 has not givin ill affects. Maybe a differant story at 14 teeth and certainly 13, but not 15. It did wonders from 3800-6000rpm for me, however I have found the range to be a little too short in some situations. I will try +2 rear and OEM front next go around because of that.

I'm not a wheelie rider but I went -1/+2 and if I wanted I could get the front wheel off the ground no problem. I went that setup because i love the the acceleration and I rarely have to down shift while riding in town. Maybe some may think it's overkill but I love that setup!

Thanks guys - looks like +2 is the way to go. I don't do a lot of highway riding and I love acceleration so sounds perfect.

I'm in the same boat with madduxca and Interceptor1. I went +2 on the rear with a SpeedoHealer. You can easily run 75+ on the highway without VTEC kicking in.

    -1

i went with -1 in the front.
    its a 6% change.
have only went around the block with it. its still snowing up here.

you can do the math and figure out what ur new vtec speed will be in 6th with what ever change you plan to make

I would think it would be annoying, if you ever tried to ride steadily between the VTEC transistion range of the RPM the bike surges back and forth until you get out of that 6800-7000rpm range.

another +2 best mod, you can do hands down! if your looking for a wheelie machine u may wana go more drastic like -1 front thats like +2.5 on rear or even +2 and -1. front sprockets are cheap so if you dont like it can always swich back
