i've narrowed it down to 2 bikes. i've decided that i'll probably part ways with my beloved tuono and replace it with one of these.
i like the ktm for it's weight (or lack of), price and low(er) cost of ownership. it' probably the punchiest single out there without mods (63hp). the ducati is well...a ducati. i've never had one and after owning one, i may never want to own one again. imo, i think the hyper is one of the best looking bikes out right now. nothing else sounds like one. the 1100 air-cooled motor architecture has been around for a while so the durability is there. no plumbing to make the engine look ugly. it is pricy but the sp or s version comes with some great stuff on it.
i'm looking for feed back from a neutral site. the ducati and ktm forums are obviously biased so help me out gang.

I'm no expert on these two bikes but after having 7 (600/650) thumpers in 25 years and allways wanting to fit a twin in them I would say you need to ride them before deciding.

you had a tuono. the ktm is step down in power. i have heard that ktms are expensive to maintain, but i certainly don't know that is true.

anyway, i would buy the 1100.

    Sparky,
Before I sold my 919 and got my 800, I spent a lot of time on this form because I really wanted (and still want) an SM.Great place to research and look for SM bikes.Supermoto Junkie - Powered by vBulletin

I keep considering the Duc myself, I'd probably get one except I think I would end up going to jail if I did...I have been able to control my hooliganism pretty well with my VFR, but I doubt I would be as successful with the Hypermotard...
