I agree with the majority here, that bike is only good for parts. And not many parts, from the looks of it.

    Piece it out on eBay.

Check around on craigslist around your area, also ebay might be an option. I have had good success with both!

All I found around here are CBR's, Kawasaki Ninjas, and Suzuki GSX and Katana's. I'll keep looking.

That is definately more project than bike.

Don't wnat to rain on your parade, but really, that is just a tremendous amount of work, that is, at least for me, well over a year of work, depending on what standard you repair it to. and when you are done, if you are ever done, You will have a bike that is worth maybe $1,500 bucks. So you spend a lifetime working and sweating on it, scrouge parts from all over, paying for them and shipping and then get T-boned two days after you first put it on the road? The insurance company isn't only going to give you what it would have sold for and that ain't much. If it were some sort of collector bike worth a lot of money together, that would be different. Or if it was all together, uncrashed and just needed some TLC to make it look nice and run well that would be different. But that bike needs everything nearly and the time to bring it all together. You would be better off spending the time hitting up the bars to meet a new significant other, and buying a running bike.

and I would find it hard to beleive that the steering head on that bike was not tweaked by whatever forces broke those fork tubes and tore them from the mounts. At least from the pictures. I don't know what the dealer can really do, do then have the equipment to measuer the frame, and the original specs for it? My guess is no, they will only be able to tell you if it is really bad, or that they can't see anything -- which doesn't make it OK. Would suck to put the time and money into it, get it on the road and find out it crabs down the road, or that it shakes horribly at 45MPH, or...

Your kidding, right? I don't even consider that a good parts bike. To each their own. Good luck with. I hope you have a big box of money.

that is an awesome example! the subframe is particularly cool. i love it!

but, on the other hand, it's free. you can make some money on this, i guess, so long as disposing the residual bike doesn't cost you very much . . . .
