This is a long thread. After the letter I received in the mail today I didn't know how to respond. It took me a few hours ( and a few beers ) to compose myself.

Bubba Zanetti ( and pals ) at least should read thru to the bottom.

I have ridden motorcycles on the street since I was 15.
I had a little honda bike that looked like a mini cruiser but was dirt capable. 1973 honda 70.
I rode it to the store and back, and took it on the trails behind my house.
Pretty soon I had a cb750 and eventually a full dress goldwing. I have had a few other cruisers and a few dirtbikes.
I found this site when I was looking for help with my gen 1 interceptor.
I had no idea what I was getting myself into.
Since then I met some local riders ( the norcalpossie ) and life as a biker has taken a dramatic turn.
The gen 1 was never what I wanted, ( no offense to any gen 1 owners ) it was just what I could afford. ToxicShock loaned me the money to buy a very nice bike. If I get my way, it will be the last bike for me. TOE CUTTER was nice enough to sell it to me after it was outfitted correctly ( tires, etc ) and help me learn to maintain it.
So now I have a bike that... hrm...lets just say MY BIKE. You would have to pry it from my cold dead fingers. I love my 1990 VFR.
Only two things left tho. Gear, and skill.
There is no way I could afford the kind of gear I think is appropriate. I think that when you guys first saw me, I was sporting a "fonzie" style leather jacket. I still wear the jacket when I am not riding. I think its cool, danzig skull soon to be painted on the back hehe.
But crustyrider was nice enough to loan me an actual two peice leather riding suit, and since then he said I could have it. As with any freind, I will someday find a way to repay the favor.
I got leathers from crusty that I plan on spending a little money on getting cut to fit just perfect for me. ( sorry guys, no booty shots on this post. ) They will retain sentimental value as well.
I know what you are thinking, wow, could it get any better?
Yes it does. The thing I am lacking is skillz. As I mentioned, I have ridden since I was a wee lad. But you guys with vfr sport bikes ( I know its a tourer as well, but plenty sporty and you cant deny ) know that there is an art to riding.
Safety and fun goes hand in hand. I have my liscence and I know how to get from point A to point B.
I have had a hard time adapting from the cruisers that I had to the more aggressive bike that I have come to be in love with. I need a little education. I wanted to take the advanced riders course. Have a pro teach me how to properly hang off the bike, position my head and etc. And alot more that I dont even know that i need to know yet.
The only problem is - I am a broke ass hoe. The economy has hit me as I am sure it has hit us all.

From the desk of Bubba Zanetti I received this letter today ( and I will paraphrase as I have been very verbose thus far ):

HeyBrother I read that you wanted to take the MSF ERC class but you dont have the money.
I PM'd some vfrw brethren, and we all pitched in. Enclosed is a check to go take the course.
One of them has the details for the course enrollement.
Dont spend the money on crack. Take the course and god bless.
( he didn't actually say crack, I put that part in for the humour ).

Bubba. Thank you so much. I won't spend the money on crack. I will post a usefull thread on my experiance at the ERC.
The money isn't even at the bank. I have it in the safe. I will be there the first day the class is available.
I am eager to learn, and the effort and money is not wasted on me, guys. Brothers.
So here is the list of people I must thank for my "scholarship". I am humbled by all of your gratitude

    (in no order)

    Silver surfer
    Scubalong
    Supertex
    TOE CUTTER
    Bwiess
    Drewl
    Bubba Zanetti
and a member who wished to remain anonymous.

And if this day couldnt get better, I just did my taxes and we have the money for mudguts to take her class as well.

Life is better on vfrworld. Period.

Thanks again brothers, I may not seem at a loss for words, but thats because I am typing. If I had to talk, I would be speechless.

Great letter from someone who sounds very appreciative of his good friends. I don't remember how I found this site. But I'm glad I did and have stayed because of the people here. Way to go guys for helping a fellow motorcyclist when they needed it.:clap2:

As I sit inside housebound today, after clearing 24" of snow from the driveway yesterday, and feeling a bit depressed and sorry for myself because there is no way I can go for a ride, I open up VFRWorld and read your post. Now I'm smiling and feeling very good! VFRWorld is truly unique (I visit other sites, so I know of which I speak), and the people are as real as it gets. This site provides a forum for serious discussion, but also allows for the outrageous (and you know who you are!). It's a family. A somewhat dysfunctional family, but a family none-the-less. Who would want it any other way!

What a write-up Cundi. Yup, most here a great people for sure. I am relatively new to biking and this is one of only two sites I belong to. The other VFR site....well, let just keep this thread positive. Cundi, you too are quite new here and have been active and a contributor such that the site remains one of interest. But I do know how you feel. I was just blown away during my trip last April to Slo3. I mean people who I only know from this site, never having spoken to or met, offering up their homes for me to stay in during my trip down. Now I gotta tell, you. Had I read the stuff I type here, I don't know if I would offer up my home to that kind of person. But yes they did and I am most greatful. And Toe's constant willingness to help people out. He seems to be the guru of repair. Even knows how to fix appliances so I see. And Reggie with his BBQ's. I am sure there are others as well but I have not been to those BBQs....not that haven't wanted to go.

Enjoy the course and learn from what you are being taught.

Yup, most here are great people for sure.

Knife: Are you talking about me in cryptonic messages?

Cundalini, Good luck on the MSF ERC. I've taken the BRC and Sport Bike ERC with the Military and it was a really good course. It taught me alot and I plan on going back every couple of years, just to refresh the skills in a controlled environment. Again, good luck and let us know how it goes.

I also would like to know your thoughts on it. I took the MSF BRC to get my license and found it very helpful. I've been looking at the ERC and would like to know how you find it!

Not how to find it where it is, but what you think of it. You know what I mean.

I wonder if I should take the course on the pocket bike....
