Hi, i am a part-time musician, I play guitar in a country (covers) band a couple weekends per month. Been playing for maybe about 30 years.... I haven't always played country though, just joined this band about a year and a half ago....
Wonder how many others are on here?
I'm new on here, but I know I've seen a "Z drummer" and that guy with the Buddha face (at least i think it's Buddha) avatar.

I am fairly certain we have a number of musicians of varying levels. I have tried to teach myself some guitar with very limited success. I have never been able to play a recognizable song (at least that anyone else could recognize) but I have some of the basics down. Maybe one of these days... If I spent half as much time on the guitar that I do on the motorcycle or 1/4 the time I spend on vfrworld, I could probably play a tune. ;)

Used to tickle the keys but haven't for years. Played the Wurlitzer. Could never really master the piano strange as that may seem. Can't read music in the slightest though. Played the organ a the Brandon Whea Kkings home games when I was 14. That was a blast.

Did I hear my name? LOL! Buddha-Guy here, reporting for duty!
    Great Thread!
I am a passionate lover of music and a jack-of-all-trades. I try to do too much so basically I suck at everything!
I started with the recorder when I was a kid (and still play it and all manner of flutes) but I became fascinated with rhythms and drums when I was in 5th grade. I have a huge set and prefer the old prog rock chaps like Neil Peart, Phil Collins, Bill Bruford, etc. But I love almost every genre of music including classical. I also play keyboards and piano (I have a huge stack of "techno-rubble" as I like to call it), bass and guitars (I REALLY suck at those), scratch around with violin, viola, and cello, and I really like non-western instruments like the hammered dulcimer, gu-zheng, erhu, and sitar. I especially like Indian music, Chinese music, Japanese music, Indonesian music, and...well, you get the idea.
Music is the gease that lubes the wheels of life...couldn't live without it!

The world would be a happier place if there was always back-ground music!

I've been playing guitar since 14 (a very long time ago). Mostly jump blues, swing, some jazz, and some surf rock thrown in for good measure. I like most kinds of music but the majority of you wouldn't recognize any of the artists in my CD collection. A while back I got frustrated with the quality of most amplifiers available these days. If you want anything decent you pretty much have to go boutique. The Chinese PC board stuff just isn't cutting it. Difficult to repair or mod and no mojo to them. Boutique stuff is rather expensive though so I learned to build my own. It's become quite an enjoyable hobby and one that I can work on when the weather isn't conducive to riding. I hand wire vintage circuits and wrap them in exotic hardwood cabinets. Finished a '57 Twin in a bloodwood cab last year and just wrapped up a '55 Bandmaster circuit but haven't built the cab for it yet. Here are some of my home made amps and cabinets. Enjoy.

Cisco, you wouldn't happen to be on the Fender Forum too? I personally don't do anything like that with amps, but I know what you are talking about. I have learned a lot from some guys on that forum that talk about such things!
And Nungboy, i used to play the saxophone many years ago, and fiddled with a flute once for about 5 days or so, LoL. ......

Sax? Cool! I just cannot tolerate the BUZZ of reeds on the lips. I thought I wanted to play reeds but it ruins my flute embouchure.

Trumpet for years. Hit a crashwall and cut a lip muscle. Some piano and keyboard and blues harp. Just finishing up getting a Yamaha (can I say that) Clavinova back in operating condition.

Spectacular work on those speaker/'amp combos. Ahhh the warmth of vacuum tubes and big magnets..

Play guitar for about 22 years now. At one point had about 30 guitars and a rack 3 feet high. Nowadays I plug straight into a Boogie Mk IV tube amp with a homemade strat. I love simple things. BTW, Ciscokid that speaker enclosure is a beautiful piece of wood work. Very Very nice Guilds, too!

I can play a G chord really fast, scream into a mic then puke on myself a la' G.G. Allen.

Oh, and I can also put a CD in the player or drop the needle on some vynil and let the music play.

Thats all the musical talent I possess.

Speaking of nice wood, I am 3/4 through refinishing the frame for my 1930's era Deagan 4-octave marimba. I had the keys professionally tuned and refinished. Can't wait for the warmer weather so I can varnish the frame. That goes along nicely with my Leedy & Ludwig vibes.

i played drums for a bit, then in my want to be a rockstar stage I picked up the guitar.
Only took three years to figure out where I was going wrong, played it like it was a bass.
after learning what a chord was and then learning the chords, I have been playing off and on for some time.
still just a beginer in my book but I can throw out some good stuff from time to time.

Thanks for the thread I just might go home and after 3 years of of my gear sitting in the corner collecting dust, dust them off and play a bit this weekend.

Thanks, guys. No I'm not on the Fender Forum, Virgo, although I own a couple of Fenders (Strat and Tele). And as for how much for a Bassman, K1C, that all depends on the Bassman circuit you want and how you want it loaded. There were many Bassmans starting with the 5D6 and moving into the modern PC board versions. One of the most famous old versions is the 1959 5F6-A. Sometimes known as the 4 hole Bassman. Another popular model are the 6G6-B circuits (the blonde Bassmans from the early '60s) last seen in 1964. Pete Townsend and Brian Setzer are well known users of this circuit. After '64, Fender made the silverface Bassmans (AB165). These aren't very highly regarded or collected - many having been "Blackfaced" over the years. The famous '59 Bassman was loaded with 4 speakers although when you are having something custom built anything goes. For instance, the fellow that I am building the '55 Bandmaster for wants a 12 and a 10 instead of the stock three 10 configuration of the original. Whatever. I'm loading him up with Tone Tubbies because I load a lot of my cabs with them. They're very nice speakers but terribly expensive. It's all in what you want or what you need. PM me if you're serious.

Speaking of Bassmans - here's the only amp in my collection that I did not build myself (although I did recap it). A mint condition 1964 blonde Bassman (6G6-B circuit). Original speakers and everything. This one was built in February 1964. It's not for sale.

Crappy guitar player here. Had guitars for 20 years, but never took lessons or commited much. I got a Fender mexi-strat and a Yammi acoustic.

Here's a clip of me with my 10 year old on bass - Better keep my day job!!

Cisco, I am starting to think you are serious! I love to see such passion and dedication. Ever mess around with scalloped-neck guitars or fretless guitars? I like the weird stuff and have the Malmsteen Strat (scalloped) and the Godin Glissentar (11-string fretless).
