If you ask a question like that on a VFR forum, I can oly assume you are not really interested. You are more interested in the comments you are getting.

The VFR is without a doubt the best bike on the planet.

In reality the VFR is the " Goldilocks last porridge bowl " of bikes, fast but not stupid fast, comfortable to tour on but not uber tourer comfortable, great handling but not Superbike sharp. It's also not fussy on average quality back road surfaces with a good tank range and is very well put together with a feeling of quality noticably above your current FZ6 in otherwords it does everything very competently and in my mind " Just right ".

Negatives might be dependant on your weight and size, one mate who is very light 60kgs = 132lbs found it a bit heavy to fang fast around tight twisties over a long distance and if you are above 110kgs = 240lbs you may need to fettle the suspension anything inbetween is fine.

Wow...maybe I did not clarify very well. This particualr deal is about 5 hours away from me. Our only local Honda dealer treats a test ride like a sexual favor. They're offended if you ask. They actually expect you to drop a few thou on a bike you've never ridden. Plus, there is a lot more to be gained by a few years of ownership than a thirty minute test ride or all the magazine articles in the world. Yeah, I kind of figured you guys dug the bikes. That wasn't my question. I do appreciate the few of you who responded less...witty than the others. Gotta say, I'm kind of taken aback by the comments. I am a staunch "wear what you like, ride what you like" guy. But the guys over at FZ6-forum.com are a lot easier on the new members. Maybe in a few years, when someone asks about the VFR 1200 I can tell them, "Better gas mileage than reported, Comfy for my 5-10 190 lb pound frame after one hour, no maint isues, nice engine noise above 6k, added bar risers for more standard position, swapped stock rubber for stickier set, etc."

THANK YOU TO THOSE WITH REAL RESPONSES.

Well, if your local dealer refuses to let you test ride something they PLAN to charge you top dollar for, maybe it's time to find someone who appreciates your buisness more. A friend of mine actually had this exact problem. Saw a bike, liked it, bought it (without being able to test ride) rode it for one day and hated it. Brought the bike back the next day and, after much debate, returned the bike. And while the salesman/manager was bitching at him about returning the bike he imparted to them that "If you'd let me ride the damn thing around the parking lot I'd never have bought it in the first place!!!!".

The reason for my reccomendation is that, I, planted my butt on a 6th gen on the showroom floor and decided right then and there that I must have one. It took me a couple years after that to get one, but it's sooooooo worth it. Oh, and BTW, I don't thing anyone here knew you wanted to be sold on a 7th gen, you would have gotten much different responses. We pretty much hate Shamu.

08 is a nice bike! But why settle for nice when you can get great for a bunch less? Get an 01 VFR with low miles,it's a Fantastic bike at 3 to $4000. Put another $1000. into suspension and you'll have a 100% dream machine.

I prob won't ever have a 7th Gen. Not my taste either. We have one Honda shop in town. They have a sister store about 5 hours away with a (I was mistaken before) 2007 25th Anniversary model asking 6500. Sounded like a steal to me.
Something I would love but would also probably NEVER lose much money on. I'm a research junkie. Subscribe to all the mags. Read every last review. But also have to agonize over every decision before I jump. This bike won't be around long enough for me to procrastinate. Which led me here... It's G&C Honda in Hammond, LA down around New Orleans if anyone is interested.

sorry for the post with a pre-bias to the VFR, I bought mine after my honda dealer let me take it up the block n back, If he didnt I would have never spent the money, he'd still have it on his floor and we wouldnt be here today. Get them to let you test ride it, you may have to have a deposit on the bike (common in the cities here, usually 500-1000$ cnd) incase of an accident. If they still wont buge then move on to another dealer, or go second hand as these bikes are pretty rock solid when taken care of.
    now that that is over,

I can do all the things a suzuki, yamaha, or even the other honda's (im not excluding any brand intentionaly) bikes can but I can do it longer and in more compfort. the 6th gen I ride is a Sport Touring class. It is at home with the goldwings as it is with the hiyabussa's. handles well in all weather, has plenty of get-up and go power. You can if you want hold 230kph and the bike does not fade or handle differently, the stock top speed is 257kph (honda stated) though it is not uncommon to exceed this with slight mods to the bike. I can go 300km between fuelings if i do the speed limit (mostly 100kph in my area) and 270km when riding in town, so you get very good fuel milage. I feel very comfortable riding the twisties at speed and have had no complaints with the bikes handleing during emergency stops.

I can not tell you what to buy, just that this bike class is nothing to sneer at and should have more than a cursory glance before moving on.

Gee if you have to ask.. it must be to late for you.. something along the lines of, if you have to ask how much, you probably can't afford it?? ;)
If you're erally into what a bike is suppose to be, there's really no need to go any further now is there?..
VFRs are the best bike, and a 3rd-4th gens are best bike for the buck.. oh yea some 5th gens too.

I stand by what I said.. It wasn't to be mean, its the truth...so if your feeling got hurt...well that's to bad for you...grow some thicker skin and deal...swing your leg over the bike, start it up, make it go vroom vroom, and make a decision... I mean, what do you want? Really... I'm sure if you want, we have a member in LA that could go with you and tell you all about the bike....

I'm not being mean maybe a little sarcastic but like I said what do you want to hear?

Sorry brother, but you deserved the smart ass responses.

We are not VFR salesmen and since we are not trying to sell you our individual bikes your original post comes off as “I maybe to cool for a VFR, but tell me why your VFR’s are so cool so I can join your club”.

Had you informed us of the dealer situation most likely all responses would have been more beneficial to your query? In addition, had you been aware of the trolls who posted queries just like yours in the past, you’d understand the smart responses. This is why it is so important to speak clearly and concisely into the microphone right from the start.
