Well, for my front end work, I stopped in the local Honda shop to buy the paper shims that go between the brake rotors and the wheel. They wanted $38. At this rate, my bargain fixer-upper does not look like such a bargain any more. I'm thinking of trying to re-use the old ones, or getting some thin gasket paper and cutting my own. Not crazy about either solution... For parts, I had some good results from HondaVFR.org, but their site is down. Old Bike Barn has a few parts, but not enough. What are the favorite sources for parts for these machines, these days?
Best place on the net I've found is:Honda Yamaha Suzuki Kawasaki Sea-Doo Can-Am Ski-Doo Motorcycle Parts ATV parts Scooter Parts personal watercraft parts Accessories Seems to have the better(lower) pricing and very fast shipping every time I've used them. Plus there are real people there if you need to call them, friendly too.
Thanks for the tip; I've been looking through their site. I notice OEM parts are pretty expensive. I'm wondering if folks here use them to do a brake rebuild. I don't see rebuild kits there in the OEM section, just individual parts. I was looking through their aftermarket parts, but haven't yet found rebuild kits for my machine. It's too bad I can't just give them my machine, then it tells me what aftermarket parts are available, like the Old Bike Barn site does. I suppose I should call them for help. I will try that tomorrow.
OEM parts are going to cost a lot more than after market. Remember they have been sitting on the shelf all these years and paying tax on them. These guys charge a little less than others like Bike Bandit. I'd try and make some paper shims first and see what happens. Not a big deal to change them later. Good luck.
