One of the techs at the Honda dealership told me to look into Spiegler performance parts out of Dayton, Ohio. Their website shows handlebar risers for the 98-01, and 02 + years for the VFR. Has anyone had experience with these ? I am considering convertibars but these look interesting as well.

welcome to the club. I dont have an answer on the bars you mentioned as I use helibars. one of the members here makes risers, though (Rogue if I am not mistaken) I'm sure he can give you info comparing different styles.

I just put these on near the end of the riding season for me (the joys of being a cannuck). It took a few rides to get used to the difference in position, but what a difference it makes... can go on much longer rides with less fatigue to my back and my wrists. My only complaint is the re routing of the throttle cables. I need to figure out how much longer I need them so I can use the original routing. Once I figure that out I will order a custom set from MotionPro. Other than that they are a great buy!!

I did this install back last season, put a few posts up about it under lsl handlebars I believe. I live in Danville Illinois, about 4.5 hours away but travel to and around Indianapolis at least twice a year - your just a bit outside of what's close enough for a casual meet, otherwise I'd show you my modification of the LSL High-bar.

It's really not too bad of an upgrade, and when you get down to it, if you're a bit creative, all you need to do is to get off the ends of the throttle cable at the throttle body side, add on about 5 inches of cable length, make an extension bracket for the throttle cable end mount that attaches to the throttle body side, and just use crimps for that cable and what are called cable narps from a cycling shop - they're like end barrels that have hex head set screws that grab into the cables and let you mount them in the throttle butterfly.

I should just make a kit and sell them hoenstly, but I did it this way honestly because I use a second piggyback throttle arm for my electronic cruise control and I have a dual mount for both sets of throttle cables....so my install got a bit involved.

I do know there are dealerships out there that will make a custom length cable for you. You basically send them yours and tell them how much longer you want it, and they extend it. I can't remember the dealership in particular, but it came up in a thread somewhere on a google search several, several months ago when I first looked into it. So the options are out there. However I never looked into a motion pro longer lengthed cable.

Personally I think it cost me about seven bucks to make mine longer - but I had the small piece of steel plate sitting around also.

Just a heads up, just got in from outside after primering and putting the first coat to paint the bars a metallic silver. Seems the anodizing on these bars fade even in gold. Wasn't really happy about it, but the bright gold looked out of place anyways without the levers, and rims gold or bronze either. I've already heard the red and blue fade. So I reccommend you go with a solid silver. btw gold faded to at least half it's intensity!
