How many older guys ride VFR?

Growing old is inevitable, unless you die young.
Growing up, and becoming "mature" is optional.

 

Yep ... the fiance was looking over my shoulder last night as I was chuckling away and she concurs ... I am getting older as well (40) but if left to my own devices I'm definately immature for my age

 

I couldn't have said it better myself. Do you mind if I use that!

I think my immaturity stems from all the stuff I see as part-time paramedic and volunteer fire fighter. Life is just too short to not have fun at every opportunity!

This really is an important part of happiness: retaining the child-like sense of fun while being responsible and safe.

 

45, Bought a VFR less than two wks ago and already had meetings with the asphalt and Mr. Policeman.

Wife says it's a serious case of mid life crisis, but there ain't no looking back.

 

Well I'm 40 and getting back on my Interceptor. When in his 50's, my father-in-law went faster on my 750 than I did. A good back and balls is all you need.

 

In 96, I had to sell my CBR1000 for the most horrific reason possible: to replace a car. After enduring 8 yrs, 1 mth, 5 days, 20 hours and 35 minutes of the pure Hell being without a bike, I'd saved the money to get my beloved VFR at the ripe old age of 40...

 

Ouch! Nasty road rash. Please get with the ATGATT! You won't regret it. Be careful, but have fun!

 

Wow ... I sold my EX 500 back in '96 so I could buy a truck as a more practical mode of transportation while back in university. It took an ex, a precious little gem of a daughter, and alot of saving to finally pick up my '05 VFR two years ago. And yes, I'm 40 now as well. I don't care what anyone says, I was not going through a mid life crisis just motorcycle withdrawal which is a very dibilitating illness.

A couple of months after buying the VFR I met the girlfriend, and she unceremoniously named my VFR "the mistress" because apparently I would get a gleam in my eye whenever I looked at the VFR. One of the smartest things I ever did was buy her a helmet. She rides 2up with me now that she has full leathers, gloves and boots.

She still insists that I need my time alone with the mistress ... god bless her; Now we're getting married in the spring!

Moral of the story ... be careful buying a VFR if you are not already married.

 

Ouch! More road rash than I had when I wrote off my little brother's CBR 600 a few years ago; 4 wheeler changed into my lane in the middle of a corner at 50 miles an hour. I was thankful that I was wearing full leathers then and I'm still riding with full leathers today.

 

I'm 45, my 38yr old missus loves the Viffer and can't wait to go out for a brekkie run on a Sunday morning. She's learning on a Hyo ATM. Do I feel old?....naahhh...early morning lane-splitting and a younger, sexy wife keep me in a Peter Pan dreamlike state Long may it continue.......

 

Just wanted to add my two cents to the thread My VFR is a 07 RWB, i am also a RWB retired Army Guy vintage 1949 model. Still trying to figure out what i want to be when I grow up

 

Well I still feel like I am 39 its only a number but at 62 I am still riding a 07 RWB VFR and still love it.

 

Knight Saber was my 41st birthday present to myself. I'm not 41 yet; I got my prezzie early.

I'm 53 and have tried many other bikes and still ride many other bikes, but none are as well rounded as my 2001 VFR. (Did have to pick up a K1200LT so my wife would ride with me)

What's the word on bikes nights here in Atlanta and the Snellville/Lilburn area?

 

okay here goes.....25!!! but an interceptor is an interceptor is an interceptor . Does it matter if I feel older?

I'm 57 years young and have been riding for 39 years...after 21 years on BMWs I have come to enjoy the balance of my '05 VFR.

 

i'm 26.....so my bike was made when i was 3

 

I'm 40 and I ride the piss out of my VFR.....

 

The Interceptor i'm riding this summer is........the VTR 250 Interceptor.

Riding mostly across and around town means the power of a 750 can't be used, so it's excessive and hard work to haul all that extra mass around.

The svelte, 330 pound 250 is not slow and can be ridden hard, a good LITTLE BIKE for elderly legs.

While a 750 is always a serious machine, the 250 is a truly great TOY motorcycle than won't get you into much trouble.
