My local dealer says that the Asphalt Black hard bags are discontinued.

Anyone know if that is true? Any suggestions on where I could find them?

    Thanks!

Unless you simply must have the OEM bags, get a set of Givi's. Givi makes the bags for Honda so you know the quality is up there. As an added bonus, you can get a set of larger Givi's with all the necessary hardware for less than the Honda bags.

    KC-10 FE out...

    KC-10 FE,
Yea, a set of Givi's would be a little cheaper. A full set of the PLX V35's would run $620, while the best price for the factory bags is around $800.
(And the PLX's come standard flat black, I would prolly have to have the factories painted...)

I am pretty stuck on the Factory bags, I think they will look a lot better and be a little slimmer than a generic solution. And Honda says that they will hold a full face helmet, while Givi is saying the PLX V35's will not.

I guess I will keep a look out on ebay, got until spring really. And I could always just start with a Givi Top box.

    Florida,
Thanks for the link, sounds like they MIGHT be able get replacement cases, not necessarily still have the full kits.

I have the factory bags. They will hold a full face helmet (in my case a Shoei RF-1000 with a Collett Communicator mounted on the side). They are also completely waterproof and do not change the handling of the bike. Even when loaded.

I also have the matching Hondaline bag liners. Stuffed full, each liner takes up about 2/3rds of the hard bag. The smaller area where the hard bag curves under the muffler is handy for storing sneakers and miscellaneous small things. There is enough room between the bag liner and the outer shell to store a TourMaster rain suit, jacket liner and the like.

Don't try this, but I can testify that an empty bag is strong enough to support the weight of the bike when it tips over in your girl friend's driveway.

The OEM sidebags give you plenty of room. I can't imagine someone wanting more room actually as bags that are too bulky and/or too full really 'kill-the-mood' when it comes time hit the twisties!

I've also got the OEM topcase on my 2005 VFR, it's rated at 45 L (or two helmets) while each sidebag can accomodate 35 L (or one helmet) of my junk. All in all, that's a lot of towing capacity for a sport touring machine. And the factory bags just look so darn good on the bike!
