If you go to your Photobucket picture you'll see some links with each picture. Copy & paste the one labled "IMG Code", it'll start with "[IMG]". Copy/paste that in to your post here and the picture comes up.

You can use those [IMG] tags to grab any picture on the net, just put the full web address of the picture in between the img tags.

Like this completely random picture I saw at http://www.dianna.com/motorcycles/images/102-0252_IMG.JPG

Just put the img tags around the full URL...

    and voila!

Thanks Gary. I'll post some more pics now that vfrcapn has filled me in on how to do it. Itsreakkt not that hard to do and the results are well worth it. Veefer Canuck paved the way on this mod and I pretty much followed his guide, with a few mods of my own.

I just went to the web site stenciled in to the upper triple, you can see it here. CBR 929/954 | Hohey Designs - Custom Stunt Parts

That is really a pretty decent price for a custom upper triple!

Yeah, that's one I used. It really is a high quality part and lets you mess around with all types, bends and rises of bars until you find what you want. You could even switch back and forth. if you were going on a long tour for instance, you could put a higher conventional bar on, then swap on lower clip-ons or whatever for day to day use. Very versatile.

Jeez - $235? Thats cheap compared to a lot of the other parts you have to grab for this kind of work. And the design really helps with the fork length issue.

Yes, it works very well for that because of the increased offset down to the fork tube clamping area. Its also a very beefy part compared to a stock upper triple. I guess that's because its designed for stunt work with all the abuse that entails. It even comes with 2 little machined plugs that fill in the holes for the conventional bar risers when you go with clip-on style bars. All in all, a very useful part for this type of conversion.

I confess that I do not know if they will work on the VFR, but I have them on my RC51 and they are the bomb. Worth every penny.

Agreed Chickwebb. I've seen a few bikes that have had Attack Performance triple clamps mounted on them. They're jewels of machinework perfection. I've also spoken at length to a couple of guys that use them and they pretty much said the exact same thing you did. They're pricey, but worth it.

As soon as I finish the paintwork on my VFR,I plan on picking up a set of those Attack Performance triples for my RC51. And hopefully later this summer (if I can still get some) I'm planning on picking up a set of Ohlins R/T forks for my RC51 as well. Which means I'll have a donor set of SP2 forks available for modding my VFR.
I'm debating whether or not to use the RC51 forks or just go with a set from a CBR1000RR,because I would prefer to run radial mount brake calipers and that way I could do it without having to use any adapter plates.
Gonna sit tight for the time being though and see how RedDukeRider's mod turns out.

Have you experimented at all with any of the optional fork offset bushings that are available for those triples or are you just running the stock fork offset?

A thousand pardons for jacking your thread RedDukeRider.:sorry:
Like you said,at VFR World sometimes threads head off in a completely different direction or tangent from the original subject.

I am interested in the total price tag for a RC-51 swap because a better front suspension is the final mod for me. "What makes sense" depends on some extent on a cost/benefit analysis.

BTW, the next bike I buy will be sometihing like a Spyder 3-Wheeler. When I am too decrepit to balance my VFR at stops I'll go to a 3-wheeler!

I spent about $1800 for the RC bits a couple years ago and recouped around $800 reselling the original VFR parts, net cost was around $1K.

I would estimate around $2000 for my swap - maybe $2500 by the time I got the radial brakes and the upper triple factored in. I went with aftermarket brake lines too and got carried away in a few places with bling, but if you kept it to the basics (use the RC-51 brake setup and a stock 929/954 upper triple) and shop around for the parts, you should be able to do it for around 2 grand. I have to warn you though, that it becomes hard to resist "upgrading" here and there!! By the way, I'm still trying to find all my pictures so I can post a few more.

I don't think the RC-51 upper triple will work for this mod as it is too "flat" to work with the shorter RC fork tubes hen used on the VFR. That's why the "gull-wing" style upper from the CBR929/954 is used (or an aftermarket equivilant) - it has enough drop down to the fork clamping area to allow the shorter forks to work. The RC part will phyiscally bolt on, but the forks will be raised up too high to maintain proper steering geometry.

Nice swap but the pics are down. Can someone re-host them please? I'm quite interested in this mod.

ON the 3rd gen, I BELIEVE the forks are a little longer, so using the SP1 forks with SP1 lowers and 929/954 uppers is required, and its still some 10mm short. Clip-ons will definitely go under the top clamp.

Me personally, I went with 2000 R1 forks, SP1 lowers and uppers. Some people use the R1 front wheel and rotor also for ease of front wheel install. I used the stock 3rds gen wheel, modified R1 axle to fit (turned down about 2mm OD) with R1 calipers and stock rotors.

    Many combinations are possible.
